Introduction
Macuse lets your AI assistant directly control your Mac. Manage calendar, email, notes, and any application through natural conversation.
What is Macuse?
Macuse is a native macOS application that bridges AI assistants to your Mac's applications and system controls. It enables AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Raycast to interact with native macOS applications on your behalf - scheduling events, sending emails, taking notes, and automating any UI interaction.
How does it work?
Macuse uses an open standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol) to communicate with AI tools. This means it works with any AI app that supports MCP. No vendor lock-in.
System Requirements
Before installing Macuse, ensure your system meets these requirements:
| Requirement | Minimum |
|---|---|
| macOS Version | macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later |
| Processor | Apple Silicon or Intel Mac |
Supported AI Clients
Macuse works with any MCP-compatible AI client. Quick Setup configures the common ones for you, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Zed, Raycast and Warp. See Client Configuration for the full list and per-client instructions.
Quick Start
Get Macuse running in under 5 minutes:
Step 1: Download and Install
- Download Macuse from macuse.app/download
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile - Drag Macuse to your Applications folder
- Launch Macuse from Applications
Step 2: Grant Permissions
Macuse requires certain macOS permissions to function:
- Accessibility - Required for Computer Use (clicking, typing, scrolling)
- Full Disk Access - Required to read Mail, Notes, Messages, and Stickies data
- App-specific permissions - Calendar, Contacts, etc. (requested when needed)
The app will guide you through granting each permission on first launch.
Step 3: Connect Your AI Client
- Open Macuse from the menu bar
- Open the Server card
- Choose your AI tool under Quick Setup
- Start chatting with your AI about Mac tasks!
Key Features
Native App Integration
Control Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Mail, and more directly through your AI assistant. No need to switch apps. Describe what you want in natural language.
Supported native apps:
- Calendar - Create, edit, delete events
- Reminders - Manage tasks and lists
- Notes - Create and search notes
- Mail - Read, compose, send emails
- Contacts - Access contact information
- Messages - Read and send messages

For apps without a dedicated integration, including Finder, use Computer Use.

Computer Use
Click, type, scroll, and drive any application on your Mac. Macuse brings Computer Use to macOS for any AI client. It sees your apps directly and runs in the background so your cursor and active window stay untouched.
Use cases:
- Fill out web forms automatically
- Navigate complex enterprise software
- Automate repetitive tasks in any app
- Operate apps that don't have an API

Works with Popular AI Tools
One-click setup for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Zed and more. Macuse generates the correct MCP configuration automatically.

Privacy and Data Flow
Macuse retrieves data from macOS apps locally and sends requested results to the AI client you chose. If that client uses a cloud model, the requested content can leave your Mac and is governed by the AI provider's privacy policy. A local AI client can keep that content on-device.
Macuse does not send your Mail, Notes, Messages, Calendar, Contacts, or Computer Use content to Macuse servers. It does send limited product analytics and error metadata, such as app version, license status, tool category, and crash information. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You retain control through macOS permissions, integration toggles, connection revocation, and Computer Use's per-app approval.

Common Questions
Does Macuse require an internet connection?
Core app integrations run on your Mac, but your chosen AI client may require internet access and may send requested content to its model provider. Macuse also uses the network for services such as updates, license validation, analytics, and error reporting.
Is my data secure?
Macuse reads native app data locally and does not upload that content to Macuse servers. The data returned to your AI client follows that client's data path, which may be local or cloud-based. Review the Privacy Policy and your AI provider's policy before exposing sensitive data.
What if an operation fails?
Macuse provides detailed error messages to your AI client. Most failures are due to missing permissions or app-specific limitations. Check the Troubleshooting Guide for common solutions.
Can I limit what Macuse can access?
Yes. You can enable or disable individual integrations, revoke connected clients, and revoke macOS permissions. Computer Use asks for per-app approval before controlling an app, and specific destructive tools may request confirmation; ordinary write tools do not all show a per-call prompt.
