This global recognition highlights the scale and ambition of EDP's Data & AI Strategy - an enterprise-wide transformation embedding AI across the business to accelerate better decisions, operational excellence and the energy transition. From renewable generation forecasting and asset performance to trading, engineering, customer experience and corporate functions, AI is becoming a core capability at EDP, supported by strong governance, scalable technology and growing adoption across the organization. When EDP was created, through the merger of 13 companies with established experience and expertise, the ambition was simple: bring energy to people and improve their lives. Over the last 50 years, that ambition evolved and while empowering people, businesses and communities remains at our core, today we are equally committed to improving life on Earth. To do that, investment is essential. We invest in clean energy, in technology, in innovation, and in the communities that need it most. We believe energy should be accessible to all and that’s why we continue investing in taking it further, responsibly and sustainably. That commitment is reflected in our growth: from an initial annual investment of around €37 million in 1976 to approximately €3.7 billion in 2025. As the energy sector reshapes itself every day, we invest in knowledge, in better solutions, and in long-term impact for present and future generations. What does it take to scale solutions with real impact? This week, in Lisbon, the EDGE Transition Showcasing Event brought together companies, social entrepreneurs and impact organisations to explore that question. As a global programme, EDGE Transition aims to connect these stakeholders and accelerate collaborative solutions for the future of energy. One idea stood out: collaboration will be key to turning ambition into action. An important step forward in a journey that continues to gain momentum. #EDPWeChooseEarth

This week, we proudly signed the Business Electrification Statement, an initiative led by the We Mean Business Coalition and the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA). This initiative is a global call to action that unites over 100 companies to promote electrification across transportation, buildings, and industry. Electrification is the fastest and most effective way to reduce emissions, enhance energy security, and lower costs for consumers and businesses. To progress in this next phase of the energy transition, we need more than just targets. We require stronger cross-sector collaboration and, most importantly, stable, forward-looking policy frameworks that can unlock investment and enable large-scale deployment. This happened during London Climate Action Week, when EDP is working with global leaders to accelerate the energy transition, translating ambitious goals into tangible results. As the energy transition enters a new era, our priority is clear: we must deliver faster, scale up solutions, and transform commitments into impactful results. At EDP, double materiality is a key starting point for understanding our relationship with nature. It helps us assess both how our activities impact nature and how nature-related risks and opportunities may affect the company – from physical risks and regulatory changes to reputation and access to resources. This perspective is closely aligned with the assessment phase of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework, which guides how we identify and understand nature-related issues across our operations. EDP is working on identifying and evaluating how we interact with nature across areas such as biodiversity, resource use, climate and land use. This gives us a clearer view of where these interactions take place, what our main impacts and dependencies are, and which risks and opportunities are more relevant — both at the corporate and project level. Can you imagine Earth writing in a language we can understand? That’s exactly what’s been happening over the millennia, with the sun, wind, water or ice carving and shaping our planet. The letters of the alphabet can be seen in rivers, mountains, forests, deserts, both in Nature’s evolution and in our journey to transform her. And NASA decided to use its satellites to find those letters, Earth’s writing, across the oceans and continents. Earth tells us her story of adaptation and transformation, with each letter containing life, beauty, hardship, abundance, colour and resilience.
