When you interact with Gemini in Chrome, you may want to focus on key details or points of reference, not the entire web page. You can use your cursor to highlight exactly what you want to ask about. - Capture a part of a diagram or text for a clearer, more focused explanation.
- Select a single object or part of a page to reimagine, redesign, or transform your idea.
What you need
You can select page content in Gemini in Chrome if:
- You’re aged 13 and older and have access to Gemini in Chrome on desktop.
- You are in one of the supported countries.
- You can use this feature only on a Chromebook Plus, Mac, or Windows computer.
Select parts of your screen to share in your prompt
You can select parts of a webpage to include in your prompt so that Gemini understands the context of your question.
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top of your browser, click Ask Gemini
.
- In the panel, select Add menu
.
- Click Select from screen
.
- Draw boxes around specific parts of the web page that you want to ask about.
- In the text box, enter your question or request.
To exit Gemini in Chrome’s selection mode, press the Escape key.
Tip: Before you submit your prompt, you can adjust the size and position of your selected areas. Drag the edges or move the entire box.
Manage and remove selections
Adjust or remove a selectionTo change the size or shape of your selection, hover your mouse over the corner and click and drag to make adjustments. You can also draw selections on top of each other if you want to make irregular shapes. If selected areas overlap, both are captured. If you selected content by mistake and want to cancel it, on the top right, click Close 
Clear all selections from the tab
To remove selections from your prompt, in the side panel text box, hover over the selections and click Close
. To remove all of your selections at once, close the Gemini in Chrome side panel.
