Contribute to Google Maps with Tell Maps

Share your local knowledge through a Tell Maps conversation, an AI-powered contribution experience in Google Maps.

With Tell Maps, you can:

• Report business hours
• Mark places closed
• Edit place attributes
• Share local tips
• Upload photos

Important: You can only use this feature in the US.

Open Tell Maps

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. Tap the “Tell Maps” card.
4. Type or speak a prompt.

Tip: When you contribute from an Ask Maps conversation, you’ll automatically continue the conversation in Tell Maps.

Post from the Contribute tab

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. Tap the “Tell Maps” card.
4. Choose what you want to post.
   • To post a tip, tap Add a tip about a place I’ve been.
   • To post a photo, tap Post a photo to show what it’s like.
   • Or tell the agent directly about a contribution you would like to make about a place on maps.
5. Follow any additional prompts.

Post in Ask Maps

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Under the search bar, tap Ask Maps.
3. At the bottom left, tap Add Post a tip or photo.
4. Follow any additional prompts.

Tip: To post tips or photos for a place that comes up during an Ask Maps conversation, under the place, tap More Post a tip or photo.

Manage your tips

You can find your submitted tips in your public profile.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. At the top, under “Contribute,” tap your profile picture or initial .
4. At the bottom, under “Other contributions,” tap Q&A.
5. Manage your tips.
   • Open your tip: Tap the tip.
   • Delete your tip: Next to a tip, tap More Delete answer.

Update a place in Tell Maps

Update from the Contribute tab

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. At the bottom, tap Contribute.
3. Tap the “Tell Maps” card.
4. Tap Update info about a place or tell the agent directly what you’d like to update about a place.
5. Follow any additional prompts.

Update in Ask Maps

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Under the search bar, tap Ask Maps.
3. At the bottom left, tap Add Update a place.
4. Follow any additional prompts.

Tip: To update a place that comes up during an Ask Maps conversation, under the place, tap More Update the map.
