Aegean Airlines is dedicated to integrating the latest innovations in aviation technology as part of its commitment to technological excellence. Thales’ AVIATOR 200S system represents a disruptive evolution in aircraft cockpit communications. 👉 Compared to previous legacy systems, AVIATOR 200S offers two separate aircraft communication network domains, up to 80 times the data transfer capacity and approved secure IP based ACARS/SATVOICE safety services with VPN/IPsec. In addition to its extensive communication capabilities, the AVIATOR 200S system offers the best SWaP parameters (size, weight, power) for a Swift Broadband Safety (SB-S) system. It also supports future i4D/4D trajectory-based operations for continental (SESAR Iris and FAA NextGen) and oceanic use. Balancing this programme alongside a full-time role has been both challenging and rewarding. The experience has provided valuable insights into leadership, strategic thinking, and personal development. I’m grateful to Henley Business School for their guidance and support throughout the programme, and to Viasat for allowing me to undertake this apprenticeship. After 6 years with Inmarsat/Viasat, I’m proud to continue growing professionally and developing my leadership capabilities within such a great organisation. There’s a deep sense of fulfilment in being part of a journey that starts as an idea and a conversation, becomes a plan, and is finally delivered. This would not have been possible without strong project management, technical leadership, and clear sponsorship, nor without the dedication of the infrastructure and network teams and the commitment of the application owners who ensured seamless service for our customers internal and external throughout. It’s impossible to name everyone, but I want to acknowledge few whose leadership and energy brought the project together: Edwin Dijkstra for his vision and positivity, Alexis Michael for keeping us aligned,Angel Marinov from SoftwareOne for strong technical leadership and execution, Hector P. and the team for actually connecting us to the cloud; Pradip Pun for coordinating testing and troubleshooting, Zaki Haider for the systematic work that sets the foundation for long‑term scalability and performance, Lakshmi (Uk) for making sure we are ready for operations and of course Sanjeev Dembi for his clear and passionate sponsorship. Kevan Bracken liked thisLast week, the SESAR Joint Undertaking headquarters in #Brussels hosted the final maturity gate for the Hyper Connected ATM Precursor solution (Solution 0339), developed within the #FCDI project. During the meeting, #SESARJU partners - including Airbus Operations as solution leader, and Leonardo as project coordinator - presented the status and the results achieved, along with recommendations and conclusions from three years of activities, demonstrating the solution’s technical feasibility. The SESAR JU expert panel assigned the solution a TRL 4 (Technology Readiness Level 4), confirming that all objectives within its scope have been successfully achieved. The solution brought together a wide range of partners, including also #Airbus, Airtel ATN, ALTYS Technologies, Collins Aerospace Ireland, Rockwell Collins France, ENAIRE, Frequentis, Frequentis Solutions & Services, Thales AVS France, Advanced Laboratory On Embedded Systems (#ALES), SITA France, SITA eWAS, and Thales UK.
