OneDrive system requirements

Get 15 GB when you sign up, plus earn up to an extra 3 GB of storage. Need more? It's easy to upgrade.

The OneDrive desktop app requires the following:

  • Operating system

    32- or 64-bit version of either Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 and the Platform Update for Windows Vista Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 and the Platform Update for Windows Server 2008, Mac OS X 10.7.3 or later

  • Processor

    1.6 GHz or higher, or Intel-based Mac computer

  • Memory

    1 GB of RAM or higher

  • Resolution

    1024 x 576 minimum

  • Internet connection

    High-speed Internet access is recommended.

Notes

The OneDrive desktop app isn't supported on Windows XP or Linux.

OneDrive desktop app functionality is built into Windows 8.1. If you install the desktop app on a PC running Windows 8.1, Setup won't appear. A setting will be installed that lets you use Office to work on OneDrive documents with other people at the same time, but no other features will be installed.
