We're so pleased to have former columnist and friend of Wicked Leeks @loubgray back for a special appearance, with an excerpt from her new book #AvocadoAnxiety. If you've ever had a question about sustainable food, it's probably in there! Here's a taster: wickedleeks.riverford.co.uk/opinion/forget

If you were shocked by the statistics quoted by this morning & shocked to hear only half of children growing up in poverty are entitled to a free school meal, then read these reports, particularly if you are in government. And have a heart.

For any of you that find large marine litter in a place you cant remove it from (common around the west coast). The aquaculture industry has set up this email so that they can collect it, they need a picture and a grid ref; reportdebris@salmonscotland.co.uk Worth a try!

Really interesting read. I thought our biggest overseas supplier was Spain/Netherlands. Interesting that has switched. Water scarcity also an issue? You can get tomatoes from Morocco I’ve noticed.

Brexit is still a huge headache for food & farming businesses, but it's also changing what food we see on shelves here. Suppliers reporting a switch to non EU nations, some with lower labour rights - my story below (& as I say on this week's @BBCFoodProg bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0)
Brave piece I think it’s important we start having honest conversations about this.

Question for Twitter. What provinces, regions, councils or local govt do roadside hedgerow trimming well, from a biodiversity and road safety perspective. Specifically roadside. Because I'd love to see how that's done.
