This decision comes from a place of gratitude, joy, fullness and optimism for the future. I am so proud of the world-class organization we have built. ♥️ It’s been an epic journey - six years ago, we formed our Security customer solution area and the growth and impact of Microsoft Security over these past years has been incredible -as we built the #1 security business in the world while keeping our mission of building a safer world for all at the heart of it. Being a part of that journey has been one of the great honors of my life. Still, the most glorious achievement in my mind will always be our people and our culture. I am so very proud of our team and how they have led with purpose, empathy, optimism and fierce determination to deliver on our critical mission of security for all. Leaders who wait for their teams to figure out AI are letting their companies and teams down. The best leaders are leading from the FRONT. Three conversations this week that reinforced this. I was a guest of Denise Persson on the Snowflake CMO Blueprint series. I can't wait for this interview to be released! We talked about how leaders have to lead by example. You can't just mandate AI adoption. You have to show your team exactly what it looks like and why it matters. At the The Wall Street Journal CMO Council, hosted by the wonderful Maryam Banikarim 🗽🚕 ❤️ joined by leaders from Sephora, Marriott, Nasdaq, Chime, Adobe, Mars, Abbott and more. A big topic of discussion at my table was how does the CMO become the definitive AI leader in their org? And in a chat I had with WRITER customer Sara Brooks, Chief Growth Officer at BetterHelp. She is hands down the most AI-native marketing leader I've met this week! She's architecting exactly what her team's daily AI journey should look like and living it herself. Her org is THRIVING because of it. Same answer every time. You can't just tell your team to use AI. You have to show them what an agentic process actually looks like in your own daily workflow and tell them why you care. There is a LOT left to build. But leaders can't just point to the destination, they have to lead the way.

THE HYBRID FORECAST: BLENDING BUSINESS INTUITION WITH MACHINE LEARNING I’ve noticed a consistent pattern in GTM and Finance functions: a deep reliance on human business intuition for forecasting. In practice, this usually looks like field sales "expert opinion" captured in manual spreadsheets, high-level averages, or "rules of thumb" such as Pipeline = 4X Revenue within CRM systems (SFDC). We have sophisticated deep-learning ensembles available today, so why does this reliance on subjective opinion persist? In my experience, it’s rarely a lack of technology. It’s a lack of trust. If leadership can’t see the inner workings of a machine learning model, they are understandably hesitant to bet board-level predictions on a "black box." That’s not just resistance to change—it’s a sensible response to unquantified risk. The real hurdle wasn't just model selection—it was the data. When I started the exploratory analysis on the open-source dataset for this article, I ran into the same issues any company faces: data sparseness, extreme outliers, and a heavily undiversified account base. What started as a simple forecasting exercise quickly turned into a deep dive into data engineering. I discuss the following critical pillars: • DATA ENGINEERING FOR INTEGRITY: Strategies to transform sparse, low-quality data into a viable foundation for forecasting. • TECHNIQUE SELECTION: A comparative analysis of modeling methodologies to identify the optimal "champion." • THE HYBRID ARCHITECTURE: Integrating human business intuition with machine learning for a forecast that is both accurate and explainable. My approach to this architecture has been deeply influenced by my collaborations with Ling (Xiaoling) Huang and Aeri Kim, who demonstrated the efficacy of utilizing an ensemble of many smaller models within a larger forecasting engine, and the work of Fuqiang Shi blending disparate techniques for superior model performance. #RevenueForecasting #MachineLearning #SalesOperations #FinanceAnalytics #DeepLearning #GTMStrategy https://lnkd.in/ePzcbZYD
