During the award presentation, Silicon Schools CEO Brian Greenberg shared with students that he has visited the school regularly since its founding and that he "keeps being blown away" by how independently he sees students working. In explaining the criteria for the award, Rob Schwartz also called out student independence and ownership:

In my view, AI Learning Priorities for All K–12 Students is one of the most thoughtful reports on how we should approach teaching AI in schools. Published by CSTA and AI4K12, it doesn’t treat AI as just a technical topic, but as essential knowledge for every student. The report outlines five key areas students need to understand—from how AI works, to how it affects society, to the ethics behind it. What I value most is its clear message: AI isn’t just for coders. It’s something all students should learn to question, use responsibly, and understand deeply. Have you explored this report yet? I attended a webinar today, Beyond the AI Inflection Point: Shaping the Future of Education, facilitated by Amanda Bickerstaff and Sari Factor. Amanda and Sari shared five core competencies they believe are essential: • Critical thinking • Effective communication • Creative problem solving • Ethical reasoning • Human-centered collaboration What really struck me is that none of these competencies are actually about tech. They’re about learning. At Imagine Learning, we’re in nearly 50% of schools across the country, and we hear this question from many of the districts we work with: How does curriculum design need to change in a world increasingly informed by AI? This work was one small way we wanted to help. https://lnkd.in/eWyuqnKK
