Projects

  • 2D DFT Image Compression w/ C++ MPI

Constructed a parallelized 2D DFT image processing filter able to compress greyscale images into complex number fields in C++ through the MPI interface, thereby saving on disk space. The simulation was tested on 16 concurrent CPUs resulting in >50% gain on processing time over a comparable single core solution.

  • 3D Renderer w/ Matlab

Re-engineered a full 3D renderer in Matlab, including world/view-space transformations and diffuse/specular lighting. Uses a triangle vector object file input and outputs a fully lit image with parameters for object, light, and camera location as well as fov, light intensity, reflectivity, and z-bufffer cutoff.

  • Reddit-Viz Spectral Clustering Algorithm

Reddit-Viz is a subreddit recommendation engine that utilizes a two-step clustering and collaborative filtering (CF) approach to generate more-relevant recommendations to Reddit users

Through March, I implemented a pipeline in Spark Scala to transform Reddit comment data, 51 million comments from March 2015, into an subreddit adjacency matrix by using a guilt-by-association algorithm on the shared users between subreddits. Then through a soft, bipartite spectral clustering algorithm, I generated subreddits clusters that were at least 100 subreddits in size. The choice in size of each cluster was arbitrary and will be exposed to the user to play with in further iterations of Reddit-Viz. These clusters were then fed into an industry standard CF algorithm based on user/subreddit similarity, thereby generating recommendations from within the cluster.

  • Touch Sensitive Garments for Athletes

    -

As our BS senior design project, our goal is to create a cheap fabric touch array for clothes in order to allow seamless interaction with smart-devices. Applications for the technology in athletics, civil service, and fast-tech industry generalize to allowing for quicker/less clumsy interactions, e.g. easy swipe music controls or an alert system for firefighters. Specifically moving onto my role, I laid the framework and design documentation for an IoT enabled garment that adopts conductive…

Serving as the team manager, my responsibilities include project documentation and requirement/design review

  • Vehicle Ignition-Locking Breathalyzer

    -

Engineered a stand-alone breathalyzer with a fully animated light display in the MBed RTOS with Adafruit peripherals. An ignition lockout communicates over RF to the breathalyzer, alerting a friend with GPS coordinates by SMS given a "drunk" reading.

  • CPU Process Simulation

    -

Modified a 5 stage pipeline CPU to support forwarding and load-use hazards in VHDL. Simulated an n-way set-associative cache with LRU replacement and write-back policy in C++. Conducted a CPU power consumption vs reconstruction error test on various DCT compressed images in C++.

  • Tank Wars Mbed Videogame

    -

Over the semester through my Hardware/Software Systems Design (2035) class I worked on coding in MIPS assembly language and C/C++. For our final project I was tasked to create a multiplayer video game on the C++ compatible Mbed hardware. The framework for the Ethernet serial connection between two MBeds, SD card module, and LCD draw and sync functions were provided however the creation of the game using these libraries were up to my coding abilities. The game itself was a 2D rendition of a tank…

The framework for the Ethernet serial connection between two MBeds, SD card module, and LCD draw and sync functions were provided however the creation of the game using these libraries were up to my coding abilities. The game itself was a 2D rendition of a tank battle where the winner would be declared upon destroying the opponent’s tank. The game physics, graphics, and features all were developed from scratch using object oriented ideology and available hardware features. The final project was successful in that I met and exceed the required functionality for the game.

  • Traveling SalesBot

    -

Our task as a team was to develop an efficient algorithm for a basic locomotive robot (DE2 mounted AmigoBot) to navigate to at most 12 different destinations given 1 minute autonomously. Throughout the Digital Design (2031) class we worked on creating a simple computer (SCOMP) in VHDL on the AmigoBot DE2 board’s FPGA including work on all basic 5 bit opcodes and their functionality. We also interfaced with I/O such as LEDs, sound output, and motor actuation for the FPGA simple computer. The…

The final project was developed in VHDL in Quartus II with a unique assembly code file written for SCOMP that enabled the robot’s actuators to interface with our code. The implemented algorithm was successful and all 12 points were reached within 40 seconds.

  • Georgia Tech Chapter - Eta Kappa Nu (HKN)

    Social Chair and Recording Secretary

    -

HKN is a dedicated honor society of electrical and computer engineers aiming to help both the strengthen Georgia Tech’s excellent ECE program while giving back to the community through public service. Activities include free tutoring, lab supply organization, professor/student events, and community volunteering. I was previously in charge of arranging social events and recording meeting minutes. However, I currently support publicity efforts and am an event photographer.

  • Georgia Tech Student Foundation Investments Committee

    Special Situations Analyst

    -

The Investments Committee manages one of the largest student run investment portfolios in the US at $1.2 million. As a Special Situations Analyst I research and propose stocks to the committee whose criteria do not meet the generic investment groups. Such examples include corporate mergers, weak or cold stocks, and time-sensitive high-risk stocks.
