So, let's talk about container runtimes. What is a container runtime? Well, you have a container, and to run a container, you are going to use an image, and this image comes from the container registry. The image is basically a compressed archive of everything that is needed to run your application. But the thing is, how are we going to run it? Well, that is where the container runtime comes in. And this container runtime allows you to run the same container on Windows, on Linux, on Mac, as well as on cloud. And that is one of the reasons why containers have become so successful. So, container runtimes are incredibly important. And a container runtime turns a container image into a running application and it provides key features. These include image management and container execution and accessibility of the container and container storage and security by using Linux namespaces and also logging and monitoring.
