Manuel Jardim de Oliveira compartilhou issoHard to think about Earth Day without recalling how half of Portugal spent the winter wondering if they should trade cars for canoes. 🛶 The floods here were no joke. And kids notice. But have you actually tried explaining predictive climate tech to a 12-year-old? Yeah, I couldn't either. Enter AI Quests. It's an active, game-based learning experience where kids learn by doing. They dive into the data, test their own ideas, and actually use AI to tackle real-world challenges. The first quest? Forecasting those floods. Basic AI literacy isn't a niche extracurricular anymore. If we want our kids to shape an AI-driven world—and maybe help fix the planet—they need to know how these tools actually work. Congrats to Marina Santalices Amigo for leading this in EMEA, and thank you Google Research and Stanford Accelerator for Learning for building something kids actually want to play. Try it with your kids, students, or whichever 10-15-year-olds you're currently trying to impress ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d7sHqnfF Link for the Portuguese version in the comments. 👇 #EarthDay #AILiteracy #GoogleResearch #FutureOfLearning

Manuel Jardim de Oliveira compartilhou issoBy the time my kids reach university, the old career playbook—school, degree, stable job—is going to look completely different. AI is rapidly reshaping the workplace and opening up entirely new opportunities. But here's the catch: recent INCO research shows that only 15% of workers have actually been trained to use these tools. Europe can't unlock its AI potential if we leave the workforce behind. That’s why AI literacy matters so much right now. Yesterday, Google launched the 'AI Works for Europe' initiative at the Future of Work in the Age of AI event. It builds on the 21 million Europeans we’ve trained on digital or AI skills since 2015, and focuses on helping the current and future workforce actually put AI to work: 🧑💻 $30M of funding via Google.org’s AI Opportunity Fund to help workers and students build practical AI skills. 🎓 This includes backing INCO & Chance to create NewFutures:AI, a program helping final-year students access practical AI skills and career support. 🌐 Rolling out the new Google AI Professional Certificate in 10 European languages (coming soon!) Proud of this team! Marina Jessica Liza #FutureOfWork #AILiteracy #Europe #GoogleAI

Manuel Jardim de Oliveira compartilhou issoAI is a massive opportunity—with the potential to boost the EU’s GDP by €1.2 trillion. But it is also fundamentally changing how society functions. It brings up urgent questions we all have to face: how do we keep Europe competitive? How do we build true cyber resilience? And, for those of us parents, how do we navigate this new digital reality with our kids? If you're curious about how Google is tackling these areas, alongside the latest updates from Brussels, this new newsletter from Karen Massin lays it out clearly. Manuel Jardim de Oliveira compartilhou issoLast week, my 3-year-old discovered beatboxing. Very niche. 😅 I don’t know where she learned it, but my mornings are now a live performance of Psh-t-k-t-Psh-t-k-t starting at 7am sharp. This week she told me she’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf (unclear who approved that storyline). So I thought: why not use beatbox to turn something scary into something fun? Enter Lyria 3, Gemini's high-fidelity AI music generator. I can’t compose, but after a few prompts (yes, a 3-year-old has lots of musical inputs), we had a track. We sang it together. On beat. The wolf has since been remixed into irrelevance. Have a listen. 🔈 Solid family moment. I got to feel cool. She learned that a Big Bad Wolf in a rap isn't so scary after all. Prompt in the comments for any parents needing a bedtime remix. 👇 #Lyria #GoogleAI #GenerativeAI #Parenting #FutureOfPlay

Manuel Jardim de Oliveira reagiu a issoManuel Jardim de Oliveira reagiu a isso🎥 The camera didn’t create cinema; filmmakers leveraged it to tell a story. Art and technology have always evolved together, but the breakthrough is never the tool - it is the human intent steering it. As Mira Lane recently pointed out, the same holds true for generative AI. Built with artists, these tools don't replace craft; they expand the canvas of storytelling and amplify diverse creative voices. For over a century, big-screen visual ambition was gatekept by budget. If an unconventional vision required complex environments, intricate lighting, or vast world-building, it rarely made it past financing. AI dismantles that specific wall, giving independent filmmakers visual capabilities once reserved exclusively for nine-figure studio productions. Many European filmmakers are already taking advantage of these tools. At the San Sebastián Film Festival, we showcased a concrete example of this with Spanish director Lucas Ortiz Estefanell’s 'Les Explorateurs'. His team used AI tools including Google Flow and Veo to execute ambitious ideas within budget, adjusting lighting and angles without restarting, while Gemini supported translation and sped up post-production. 🙌 Vamos a isto! #AIAcademy #Google #APDC #EstadoemAcao

Manuel Jardim de Oliveira gostou dissoManuel Jardim de Oliveira gostou dissoSomething's cooking... or should I say, brewing ☕ A while back, my colleague Elena started brainstorming a new kind of space in Brussels - somewhere people inside the EU bubble and anyone curious could come to experience Google's AI and have meaningful conversations over a great cup of coffee. As of this Monday, that vision becomes a reality. For the next 4 weeks, we’re hosting Connected Cup, a public pop-up café at Rue d'Arlon 80. Whether you want to test out our latest AI tools, join a session tailored to students, youth, or industry professionals, or simply grab a coffee with a friend, the doors are open. You can explore the full program here: https://lnkd.in/dHsCC9Rq. One highlight I’m especially looking forward to is on September 22 - hosted by JA Europe - an organization that has meant a lot to me personally. I stopped by earlier today to meet the team while they were putting on the final touches, and it left me so excited for the weeks ahead. I can't wait for the conversations that will happen here - it truly feels like a space that will be shaped by everyone who walks through the door. A place to connect, explore, and also debate a few topics... Making room for those kinds of conversations feels more important than ever. And for other coffee lovers like me... I took a sneak peek at the menu and can guarantee it will be great 👀🤭 So, if you're in Brussels over the next month, come grab a coffee with us! ✨ Extra kudos to the team behind the scenes: Elena Tosheva , Karen Massin , Mathilde Méchin , Honour Pearson , Charlotte Poons , Alex McPhillips , Andreas Aktoudianakis , Brett Kobie , Arnoud Schoofs , Ali Colwell

If, like me, you have been living under the rock for the past couple of months and weeks, worry not! I have put together an overview of the most recent news around Generative AI in this small compilation. My brain is still brewing after all the overload of information from #FOXPorto and I decided to share it with all of you. This is not from the sessions we joined, but instead based on all the side conversations we had among the attendees. It had a significant impact on the way I think, so I hope you will find it useful. #GenerativeAI market is expected to grow at a staggering annual rate of 40%, from USD 16 billion to USD 85 billion by 2029. 63% of 2024 revenue was attributed to #AI companies based in North America. China has taken an open-source approach. As a response, ASML, the Dutch semiconductor company invested USD 1.5 billion into French AI-Mistral attempting to build a competitive European AI ecosystem, signaling commitment to compliant infrastructure. Switzerland released Apertus LLM, in compliance with the EU AI Act. While Gartner predicts that 70% of consumer interactions will begin and end with conversational assistants by 2028, consumers’ behaviour is changing already today. ChatGPT stands now for 1 billion searches a day and it reached that milestone 5.5 times quicker than Google. Since the introduction of AI overviews on May 14, 2024, Google claims to have more searches than ever, seeing 5 trillion annually. #ChatGPT has by far the biggest market share within the generative AI chatbots(around 61%). Bing’s Copilot uses the same underlying system as ChatGPT. Most people using ChatGPT haven’t even heard about its competitors: #Gemini, #Perplexity or #ClaudeAI. Although Gemini seems to be on the growth curve. On 21 May 2025, #OpenAI bought a hardware manufacturer IO. Can you imagine a device with ChatGPT as its operating system? Jony and Sam promised the product will hit the market in 2026 and will be for ‘’everyone’’. It is apparently already delayed. 🫠 Meanwhile LLM agnostic open-source orchestration firms are growing. Some of the leading workflow automation solutions are: Zapier, Make and n8n. One of them, the German n8n, has grown its user base six times this year alone! As an answer to Zapier, Make and n8n’s growing threat, OpenAI also introduced workflow and agent builder. Three weeks ago ChatGPT announced the integration with Shopify, allowing sales within the conversation in the US. The costs of running generative AI are higher than the revenue. Most companies offering these services (incl. OpenAI and Anthropic) are losing money. Soon they will need to either start charging the end users, or increase the price for the enterprise solutions to cover the cost of running their services. The economy is not doing great. Deutsche Bank’s in its recent research note sent to clients said that the AI boom is currently helping the US economy avoid a recession. UK, Germany and Sweden are in recession.
