Stuart Scott reacted on thisStuart Scott reacted on thisAfter 32 years in technology, I've decided it's time to retire. It's a strange sentence to write. When I started my career as an exploration geologist sailing around the world, I certainly wasn't planning the next three decades in tech. One of the defining moments of my career came early on at Xerox, where I was part of a team of four that built what would today be recognised as one of the first enterprise CRM systems, in just three days. At the time, we were simply solving a business performance problem. Looking back, that project quietly changed the course of my career. It opened the door to Oracle and, later, to Siebel Systems, where I had the privilege of serving as President of EMEA. From there, one opportunity led to another: helping build Oracle's business in Australasia, building Siebel's operations across the UK and EMEA, and later working with businesses at very different stages of growth, including through 5 IPOs, an acquisition, and more recently alongside founders scaling their own companies. What stays with me are the people: the teams who achieved far more together than any individual could have, the customers who trusted us, the colleagues who challenged my thinking, and the friendships that lasted long after the meetings ended. I've been fortunate to work with some exceptional people, and I learned something from every role, especially the difficult ones. To everyone I worked alongside over the years, thank you. You made the journey worthwhile. As for what's next, I'm looking forward to spending more time with family and friends, travelling a little more, and enjoying a good glass of wine in Cape Town without checking my phone between sips. I'm sure our paths will cross again. I just won't be joining the forecast call. Thank you again. Neil

Stuart Scott reacted on thisStuart Scott reacted on thisLast Friday was my final day in Sage Marketing. Some jobs run like dog (or cat) years, and this one definitely packed in the action to a short span of time. The amount of transformation we accomplished in last few years is staggering. Looking back, I'm most proud of the team I helped build. Individually a very talented bunch, but working together, magic! I'm going to miss you guys. I'm so grateful to Harry Davies for the opportunity and unwavering confidence in me no matter the stretch, and John Barrington for the tough love that pushed me even farther out of my comfort zone. Now for a few weeks to unplug fully and enjoy this surprisingly hot London summer. The next chapter starts in July!

Stuart Scott liked thisStuart Scott liked thisThis is completely bonkers. Look I don't ask for favours often. But I'm asking now PLEASE HELP ME 🙏 Let me explain. UK law REQUIRES schools to serve meat 3+ days a week. There is zero requirement for a single bean not even a chickpea. Yet 96% of secondary kids don't get enough fibre and 1 in 10 children start school already overweight. I also don't need to go into the fact that encouraging more plants and less meat is good for the planet because we all know that. The government mandates car seats but not a single pulse on a plate! Am I alone in thinking this is madness? Luckily, I was chatting to Naomi Duncan of Chefs in Schools today who told me about something that's hoping to change this. There is a consultation open RIGHT NOW (but closes this Friday). Okay - maybe you were like me and didn't know what a consultation was. A consultation sounds official and scary but it isn't. It's essentially the government asking the public: "what do you think?" before they write new rules. An online survey. Anyone can fill it in. It takes two minutes. Your opinion counts exactly as much as a politician's! They are proposing in the new rules to make pulses a big part of school food menus 🙌 So pleaaseeeeee can you help me make this happen? If this passes, every main meal has to include pulses at least once a week. It may be as simple as mixing a can of beans into the spag bol recipe. We have the chance to create a generation of kids growing up thinking beans are normal. Please take a look here: https://lnkd.in/eyUFqUmh (Skip to questions 29, 30 and 31. That's the beans bit. Answer those three, submit, done!) ♻️ repost this if you think UK schools should start serving beans!

Stuart Scott reacted on thisStuart Scott reacted on thisLast Friday was my last official day as a Workmate. Three years ago I walked into Workday not knowing what I was walking into. I'm leaving knowing it was the best chapter yet. What I found was a team that challenged me, supported me, and changed me. Not through decks or OKRs but through the way they showed up for each other and for the work. We built something I'm genuinely proud of. B2Human put people at the center — of the strategy, the creative, the culture. And Fun was how we did our best work. To the Rockstar marketing team: you are the whole point. I had the privilege of leading alongside the best, and every one of you made me better. I'll be your loudest fan from whatever sideline I land on. 💫 Thank you to Carl Eschenbach, whose support and belief in me as a CMO and as a leader never wavered. And to Aneel Bhusri, thank you for entrusting me as steward of this brand. I never took that lightly, it was a privilege. 💙 🧡 As for what's next — I knew when it was time, and it was time. I'm stepping into my next adventure with a lot of excitement and no shortage of curiosity. What I do know: I'm leaving with a full heart, a lot of gratitude, and the same values I walked in with. Stay curious. Be courageous. Make it matter. More soon. 💜

Stuart Scott reacted on thisStuart Scott reacted on thisToday marks 5 years at Sage. I began my career here as an apprentice, and over the past five years I’ve had the opportunity to grow, take on new challenges, and shape a career in an area I’m genuinely passionate about. It’s an exciting time to be at Sage as we continue to evolve how we build and deliver intelligent products. In my role in the Sage AI Factory, I’m shaping AI-driven experiences across the Sage for Small Business product suite. What I’ve valued most is the ability to contribute to initiatives that are not only innovative, but also foundational to the future of our products and platform. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, grateful for the people I’ve worked with along the way, and excited to continue building and driving impact at Sage.

Stuart Scott liked thisStuart Scott liked thisA Head of Sales agreed to run marketing for one week. Here's the diary. Monday. "Easy. I'll just launch a campaign." Discovers a campaign needs a brief, message, design, and multiple channels to run it. Discovers that you need multiple people for that. It's 6pm. Nothing has launched. Tuesday. Asks the designer why he can't just quickly "develop the landing page too." Learns "quick" and "develop landing page" and "designer" do not belong in the same sentence. Asks why our AI agent can't launch it automatically. Wednesday. Wants a customer case study by Friday. Learns that it needs a happy customer, CS approval, an interview, a redraft, and the PR team's blessing. The customer is "checking internally." Thursday. Sits in on SEO, lifecycle, product marketing, events and ops, all before lunch. Realizes this is not one job. Quietly stops saying "just." Friday morning. Read about AEO last night. Walks in: "Let's launch AEO." Learns you can't optimize to be the answer an AI gives if the models have nothing to cite you for. Realises AEO isn't a new channel you *just* switch on. At noon the Founder walks in: "So what did marketing deliver this week?" Head of Sales, eye twitching, holding ten half-finished things: "…it's complicated." By Friday afternoon, the man who spent two years saying "marketing should just send more leads" has sent zero leads, launched zero campaigns, and aged four years. He doesn't apologise. But he never says "just" again. And honestly? That's the whole win. You don't earn respect for marketing by explaining the surface area. You earn it the second someone has to stand on it.
