Christian Beedgen posted thisLooks like access to frontier models is now limited to "trusted" developers. But trust gets proven the way incumbents prove everything (scale, legal teams, existing relationships) so "trusted" really means "big." Naturally, most genuinely new work starts in small teams that can't clear that bar. Are we calling trustification safety while we limit innovation by kneecapping the builders of the next wave of creative destruction?

Christian Beedgen reposted thisChristian Beedgen reposted thisHad a great time at BSides Nashville with Christian Beedgen. Met a lot of great folks and it was an awesome event, was also super fun getting to put my junior SE hat on and give a few demos. 🤣 Big shoutout to Anderson Liddle especially, who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Excited to come back next year.

Christian Beedgen reposted thisChristian Beedgen reposted thisObsidian is having quite a moment of popularity ever since Karpathy's post on using it as the front-end to his LLM wiki. Those who know me well know I've had an Obsidian obsession for some time. Prior to Maestro (RunMaestro.ai) it was my number one app by screen time. In addition to housing notes, projects, health data, meetings, and more, I also ingest all of my Podcasts, RSS feeds, and bookmarked YouTube videos into it. My primary daily agent is Maestro over Claude over my Obsidian vault, and let me say, this agent "gets me". How I Obsidian is covered in detail in the following post: https://lnkd.in/g9-Mr7zc How I leverage Claude Code, including overtop of Obsidian is covered here: https://lnkd.in/er-s-Ad2 Finally, and very important for quality of experience, is establishing memory for your agent, which is covered here: https://lnkd.in/ghDRkg4v Happy to connect and chat with fellow Obsidian enthusiasts!

Christian Beedgen shared thisContext is king. Cheers Jonathan Cran, Mallory looks awesome!Christian Beedgen shared thisMallory is now GA! Today we're launching our AI-native threat intelligence platform built for one question: "Are we affected?" We track thousands of sources, contextualize to your environment, and make investigation easy, whether you're running a three-person team or a thirty-person SOC. We're also announcing our seed funding from Decibel Partners, as well as an incredible team of angels - enabling our team to grow and explore the edges of what's possible when you harness the frontier models for security operations. More on why we built it and what's next here: https://lnkd.in/gdeeJw6M

Christian Beedgen reposted thisAbout a year ago I posted that I was working on something new. This is it. I've spent my career feeling the pain that Perpetual is built to solve. What this team has shipped in the past year: agentic detection and response, a flywheel that actually compounds SOC value, a data lake that's yours and not marked up per GB. It's the real thing. I'm just the one talking about it on the hero video. Incredibly proud of what this team has achieved.Perpetual Systems | The first fully agentic security analytics platformPerpetual Systems | The first fully agentic security analytics platform

Christian Beedgen shared thisEverybody wants to be agentic. Cotool walks the talk and helps you get there!Christian Beedgen shared thisToday we’re announcing Cotool’s $7.4M Seed financing, led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Y Combinator, WndrCo, Homebrew, and leading angels across AI & enterprise security. We started Cotool after watching exceptional security teams spend too much time stitching together context across dozens of tools and too little time actually reducing risk. With Cotool, we’re building the agentic operating system for cybersecurity teams. Cotool gives teams the flexibility to create agents that share context across the full security operations lifecycle: detection, hunting, triage, investigation, and response. Early customers are cutting triage time drastically, standardizing investigations, and shipping net new detections at a much higher clip. These teams have started operating at a scale their headcount shouldn’t allow. With this round of funding, we’re now able to: - Double down on what’s working and scale it to more teams. - Hire exceptional builders and sellers who can deepen our enterprise partnerships and redefine security operations for customers. - Take big bets on new product surface areas (more on this soon!) To all the early customers and practitioners who took a bet on us, we’re eternally grateful for your support and more motivated than ever to continue to deliver great product to teams like yours. To all our investors, partners, and advocates, we could not have done it without your support. The future of security operations will be agentic. If you want to learn more, or help build the future of applied AI in security, let’s talk.

Christian Beedgen liked thisChristian Beedgen liked thisI'm beyond excited to share that runZero will be joining forces with Dragos, Inc. and NetRise as part of Accenture's $4.175 billion bet on the defense of critical infrastructure: https://lnkd.in/gEXa_B5N runZero started as a side project in 2018. After my years at Rapid7, from the Metasploit acquisition through the IPO, I had taken a health break, and was ramping back up as a consultant with Atredis Partners when I kept seeing the same thing: even in organizations with best-in-class security teams and extensive resources, their biggest risks weren't even on the map. That gap became the whole point. runZero was built to give defenders comprehensive visibility into the unknown, the long tail of assets and exposures that traditional tools never see. For the first two and a half years it was a solo effort. After reaching nearly $1M ARR and over 100 customers, I realized I had barely slept in a week, and that it was time to bring on help. Decibel Partners stepped in to lead our Seed round, which gave us the stability to actually hire people, and gave me the confidence to bring on Chris Kirsch as CRO and cofounder. From there it was off to the races, with all of the startup rollercoaster highs and lows: huge early deals, missed forecasts, 25% user growth overnight, the SVB bank run, and so much more. Through all of it, Decibel's unwavering support helped us build a real business with a genuinely different approach in a very noisy market. Thank you to the whole team: our staff, who always put customers first; our investors, who gave us the space to try something new; and our customers, who are the reason we're here. And a huge thanks to the security community, who cheered us on and kicked our butts as needed, helping us bring a product to market, and to the community, that actually matters. I'm also deeply grateful for the chance to bring runZero's talent and technology into this venture. As operational environments get more connected, and as AI compresses the time between IT compromise and OT targeting, the extended OT environment ("xOT") is exactly where defenders need visibility they don't have today. Bringing NetRise and runZero together under Robert M. Lee's leadership at Dragos is more than a technology match. It's a group of people who care about customer outcomes first. I couldn't be more excited to help redefine what the future of cybersecurity defense looks like, alongside the amazing leadership and the broader teams across Dragos, NetRise, and Accenture. -HD PS. I appreciate the congratulatory notes, but I also want to be clear: the runZero team is here to build for the long haul. This is an exciting transition point, but we have a lot of work ahead and we are nowhere near done.Accenture to Strengthen Critical Infrastructure Defense with End-to-End Cybersecurity Platform in Age of AI-Driven Cyber Threats and Geopolitical RiskAccenture to Strengthen Critical Infrastructure Defense with End-to-End Cybersecurity Platform in Age of AI-Driven Cyber Threats and Geopolitical Risk

Christian Beedgen liked thisChristian Beedgen liked thisHappy to share that a couple weeks ago, I joined Resolve AI as a Member of Technical Staff, working on Applied AI and agentic driven development. Resolve AI builds agents that diagnose and resolve production incidents autonomously. AI made shipping code easy. But production systems keep getting more complex, and running them is still hard. That's the gap we close. Super excited to be building with Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal.

Christian Beedgen liked thisChristian Beedgen liked thisAfter an incredibly fulfilling career in cybersecurity, I am ready to close this professional chapter and cross the finish line I set for myself years ago. Reflecting on this journey, I am most proud of the high-impact teams I’ve had the honor to build and lead. To the mentors who guided my path and the talented individuals I’ve mentored in return—thank you. While we successfully navigated complex technical and strategic challenges together, it was the professional and personal bonds that made this journey truly rewarding. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to now step away from executive leadership and the industry as a whole to focus on personal goals and a different pace of life. While I am eager for this next chapter, I will always be a supporter of this community and the vital work it continues to do! To everyone who was part of my story: thank you for the collaboration, the shared mission, and the laughs. I’d love to keep the personal connections going—feel free to reach out via DM! Best of luck to you all! ✌️

The biggest mistake in choosing an IT partner: Buying a relationship. Instead of buying a system (process, reporting, escalation, documentation). Especially in regulated environments, “trust me” doesn’t pass due diligence. Comment CHECKLIST and I’ll DM the guide we use for evaluating providers.

Watch Duty serves millions of people during active wildfires. That kind of public visibility comes with real threats like phishing campaigns, fake apps, and domain squatting, on top of the compliance pressure that comes with landing enterprise customers. When their CTO David Merritt started the SOC 2 journey, they had four engineers. He didn't need a security program built for a thousand-person org. He needed something that could grow with them without burying them. Shortly after rolling out Fencer, Watch Duty identified and fixed multiple critical vulnerabilities before they could be exploited. Security ownership spread across the team. Audit requirements got knocked out automatically. "Fencer gives us peace of mind that we're providing a strong security posture for our customers." Love working with Dave and the Watch Duty team! Full case study in the comments.
