Bas Kamphuis shared thisAWS as a force multiplier for PE value creation? It is often an after thought, if considered at all. Bas Kamphuis liked thisBas Kamphuis liked thisYesterday I spent three hours with the team at Evolver.ai. Afterwards, my world looked different. I thought I was operating at the frontier of "unsexy" enterprise AI. Turns out I was standing at the edge of the observable universe, congratulating myself for discovering the shoreline. My next blog this week, l am making a case about something I've been hinting at for a while which is that the LLM, by itself, is not the endgame for the enterprise. LLMs ain't bad, but they are solving the wrong problem. Well, they aren't solving Enterprise problems anyway. Enterprise intelligence is fundamentally a coordination problem, not a language problem. That is why agentic ROI is hard. We are continuously putting bandaids on LLMs to compensate for their lack of understanding policies. And therefore, the cost of interventions exceed the value generated. Therefore I've been working on what I call the Coordination Model. It's a fundamentally different kind of AI, trained not on language but on the essence of enterprise coordination like business processes, dependencies, decisions, events, constraints, and the invisible geometry that makes organizations function. Yes, just like Geometric AI for 3D or Alphafold for Protein folding. Yesterday I saw the next step. In one of my papers on comprehensive enterprise AI, I called that theoretical destination the Friedmann Equation Machine. Named after the equations that describe the expansion of the universe from its very beginning. The idea was an operating system that could describe, reason about, and steer the dynamics of an entire enterprise. I also jokingly called it "Lovable for the Enterprise." In my mind, that future was still at least a year away. Then yesterday happened. I saw a working cognitive enterprise operating system. This is one of those rare moments where every superlative feels suspiciously inadequate. This is ENTERPRISE AI in capital letters. If you really want to understand it, don't start with the website, because marketing always tries to materialize into concepts you're already familiar with, but talk to the co-founder, Mario - their scientist and madman. (Mario, not Dario. And no, they're not brothers.) He's delightfully unconventional, which is probably a prerequisite for building something this ambitious. I'm still processing what I saw. Apparently one restless night wasn't enough for a paradigm shift of this magnitude. Those who know me also know I'm enthusiastic by default, but relentlessly skeptical. The good news is that I'll be able to put this technology to work myself and discover exactly where reality ends and marketing begins. That's the interesting part. For now, my working hypothesis is that what I saw is a new category. If the transformer became the Schrödinger equation of language, this feels like the Schrödinger equation for the enterprise itself. I need to think. Then I'll do a writeup on it.

Bas Kamphuis liked thisBas Kamphuis liked thisAI isn’t coming. It’s already here. If you’re not using AI tools in your daily workflow yet, you’re probably spending more time than you need to. I recently came across this powerful breakdown of AI tools across different categories, and it really shows how AI is transforming every part of work: → Presentations → Chatbots → Email assistance → Coding → Spreadsheets → Image & Video generation → Writing → Workflow automation → Graphic design → Data visualization → Meeting notes → Scheduling → Knowledge management Whether you're a founder, marketer, developer, designer, student, or corporate professional, there’s an AI tool that can make your life easier. Here’s what I’ve personally realized: AI doesn’t replace professionals. It amplifies them. The real advantage now isn’t just working hard, it’s knowing how to work smart with the right tools. Start small: → Automate one repetitive task. → Use AI to brainstorm ideas. → Speed up content creation. → Simplify reporting. Productivity compounds. Which AI tools are you currently using the most? Bas Kamphuis liked thisBas Kamphuis liked thisYesterday I joined the roundtable on “AI Value Creation” at The Wharton School. The discussion with leaders from different industries focused on how #GenAI is delivering real, measurable enterprise impact — not pilots, not press releases, but operating leverage. I shared how Evolver is already changing how work gets done under the CFO agenda at a handful of Fortune 500 and #Professional #Services firms. Not by layering chatbots on top of workflows, but by embedding #AI directly into #Finance, #Tax, #Audit, and #Risk processes, where accuracy, explainability, and control actually matter. The shift isn’t about incremental efficiency. It’s about compressing decision cycles, institutionalizing domain expertise, and re-architecting execution. AI value creation is no longer theoretical. The differentiator now is disciplined execution. Thanks Michael G. Jacobides and Stefano Puntoni for the invitation.

Global enterprise SaaS M&A is defying expectations, turning Q3 2025 into a massive hot streak that rivals the activity records of 2021. Deal volume surged more than 26% QoQ, fueled largely by a dominant shift toward private equity. PE buyouts “blew the roof off” the market, capturing two-thirds of total deal value and significantly outpacing corporate acquirers. While heavyweight segments like enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management maintained the largest market share, the knowledge management systems segment emerged as a breakout star, achieving a staggering 545% increase in value. The quarter was defined by 17 multibillion-dollar megadeals, led by the $12.4 billion take-private of Dayforce and Blackstone’s $6.5 billion acquisition of Enverus. As interest rate cuts begin to take hold, institutional appetite is returning for market leaders, particularly in human capital management and digital commerce. Read our full report to explore why 2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for SaaS dealmaking and see which subsegments are commanding the highest premiums.

I had the chance to hear MIT Sloan Professor Nelson Repenning and Jason Child (CFO of Arm) speak at the MIT CFO Summit yesterday — and their discussion was one of the clearest, no-nonsense breakdowns of what’s really happening with AI inside organizations today. 💡 One story in particular stuck with me: Professor Repenning revisited General Motors’ legendary 1980s push for “lights-out factories.” GM spent $40B–$50B automating everything — robots welding, painting, assembling — expecting technology to be the silver bullet. Instead, it became one of the biggest automation failures in modern corporate history. What went wrong? 🤖 Robots welded the wrong panels 🚗 Automated carts crashed into walls 🎨 Paint robots sprayed each other 📉 Productivity dropped The problem? GM automated broken processes built on: - Disorganized workflows - Poor-quality incoming parts - Erratic production schedules - Outdated plant layouts Sound familiar? Because many companies are doing the exact same thing today… just with AI. As Jason Child put it: 🎲 AI is probabilistic 📏 Business operations are deterministic 🧩 If the data feeding AI is messy, siloed, non-granular, or held together by heroic spreadsheets… ➡️ AI will confidently give the wrong answer — faster and at scale. Professor Repenning said it best: “There are few ways to lose money faster than automating a process you don’t understand.” The lesson from both speakers was loud and clear: 👉 AI isn’t the strategy. Your data foundation is the strategy. 👉 AI doesn’t fix fragmentation. It amplifies it. 👉 AI doesn’t replace process maturity. It depends on it. The real question isn’t: “What’s our AI roadmap?” The real question IS: “Are our data, workflows, and processes ready for AI to actually work?” Because when your data is clean, unified, connected, and deeply granular — AI becomes a multiplier. When it’s not… You get a modern version of GM’s lights-out factory: huge investment, small ROI, and a lot of executives asking what went wrong. #CFO #Leadership #AITransformation #DataQuality #DigitalTransformation #ChangeManagement #OperationalExcellence #Automation #FutureOfWork #MITCFOSummit #FinanceLeadership FinQore
