Hüseyin Dursun shared thisDining Philosophers, Sleeping Barber, and Byzantine Generals are a few examples of the lore of Computer Science. They are colorful allegories that help make complex problems in distributed computing easier to grasp. Learning and also teaching through analogies have always fascinated me. I first heard about the Byzantine Generals problem during a class in '92 where we used M. Ben-Ari's "Principles of Concurrent and Distributed Programming" as the textbook. Yes, 30 years ago! I decided to share my excitement by turning it into an article and submitting it to Türkiye's Science and Technology magazine. My fascination grew further after seeing it published in the Jan 1993 issue. I recently got a copy of Specifying Systems by Leslie Lamport to continue the journey of learning. #computerscience #distributedsystems #programming #learning

Hüseyin Dursun shared thisAll new approaches are combinations of the old ones. Following is a succinct version of Deming’s 14 points (Out of Crisis, 1982) that every org would benefit from: 🌀institute > leadership, individual growth 🌀 instill > purpose and safety, drive the fear out 🌀 improve > cease dependence on inspection to achieve quality 🌀 eliminate > silos, management-by-objectives, slogans, exhortations, merit rating 🌀 transform > it’s everyone’s job #management #leadership #transformation #deming

Hüseyin Dursun liked thisHüseyin Dursun liked thisThe shift from code-generation bottlenecks to code-verification bottlenecks is one of the most prominent challenges in modern engineering operations. When AI generates code in seconds, the burden of security, testing, and compliance shifts entirely to your pipelines and human reviewers. In an agentic world, DevOps doesn't just support the software delivery pipeline—DevOps becomes the critical infrastructure that keeps autonomous agents from breaking the business. When AI agents can autonomously write code, provision infrastructure, and execute workflows, traditional DevOps transitions from a reactive "ops support" role into the primary guardrail and operating system of the engineering organization. #EngOpsinAgenticEra

In this Google Cloud blog post, Andrés Lagar-Cavilla and I provide a brief overview of how we have been using agentic AI in Google's AI and Infrastructure team to secure the hundreds of millions of lines of Google's code. The key innovation is *pervasive vulnerability scanning* directly embedded into the software development lifecycle. In other words, we *continually* scan *every* code change that happens in our infrastructure. Read the blog to find out how we built and deployed this, and lessons you can take for your security journey. Special call out to Stella Voutsina, Yulong Zhang, Nick Galloway. https://lnkd.in/gQJXsJu6

When I first started working with customers migrating from other cloud service providers (or on-premises) to @Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (#OCI), one of the biggest concerns was the perceived lack of industry professionals—partners, engineers, architects—who really knew OCI. That concern was valid 7 years ago, but the landscape has changed dramatically. Today, the industry is full of exceptional talent with deep #OCI expertise. At Oracle, we’ve successfully guided thousands of customers as they moved to OCI, tapping into a broad and experienced global network of professionals. The numbers speak for themselves: Oracle’s Race to Certification 2025 has just wrapped up, with over 1 million learners from 160+ countries advancing their OCI skills—many focusing on AI innovation. And the journey continues! Free Oracle OCI training and certifications are still available. Let’s celebrate this momentum and keep moving forward—learn more here: social.ora.cl/611027PhBg
