Jared Sheehan shared thisIncredible leader and outstanding team - Jen is building the Pipeline of our AI future - If you want to see innovation at scale ping her or I to skip the line.Jared Sheehan shared thisThis summer marked 15 years at Capital One, and I'm taking a moment to reflect on a big shift alongside it: I've been promoted to VP of Product Management. None of this happened alone. Kim Corazzini took a bet on me, offering me my first role in product — a decision that changed the trajectory of my career. Joelle Rowley gave me the time and coaching to figure out this move, when I needed it most. And my current leaders, Paul Cousineau and James Blair have given me mentorship and advocacy that I don't take for granted. Thanks to everyone that's been a part of this journey with me. One more thing: I'm hiring for a number of product leaders that are passionate about solving developer problems. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you. Below is just a sampling of positions my team is hiring for. https://lnkd.in/eAjAU-Bu https://lnkd.in/eAjAU-BuSr. Director, Product Management - Developer Experience Governance & Risk Management at Capital OneSr. Director, Product Management - Developer Experience Governance & Risk Management at Capital One

Jared Sheehan shared thisLooking to make a dent in the #Android universe? Have you ever built experiences that are driven from the backed? Yeah AI is making coding easy - but the really hard part is connecting a backend to a frontend so that you can change experiences in real time. I did it the hard way once way back in 2014 (holy moly it was hard and brittle) and then my good friend Amit Sharma said I am going to solve that problem for all of Capital One's customers. Im like - good luck dude. Then he and some Capital One coworkers put the strategy together, built some prototypes, launched several versions and now server driven experiences are a key part of Capital One's long term strategy (Well done my Amit!). If you want to work on really hard problems with world class mobile leaders (like Amit) take a moment and apply to the role listed, or ping him or I to #SkipTheLine.Jared Sheehan shared thisAmit Sharma is #hiring a seasoned Android Sr. Lead Software Engineer - to lead our Server-Driven UI (SDUI) android initiatives within our broader SDUI platform that powers customer facing experiences and experimentation in Capital One mobile applications. In this critical role, you will lead a high-impact engineering team responsible for architecting the client frameworks, DSL and backend integrations that dynamically serve UI features across Android, iOS, and Web. You’ll be driving android platform capabilities, performance and modernizing our developer ecosystem at scale. What You’ll Do Lead SDUI Engineering: Drive the vision and strategy for backend-driven UI delivery, utilizing Multi-module Android architecture and Kotlin DSL to power core mobile features. Manage & Mentor Senior Talent: Direct a team of senior engineers in implementing high-scale architecture practices using Reactive patterns, Jetpack Compose and Android Views. Cross-Functional Architecture & Performance: Work across the full stack ensuring seamless integration, optimizing the Gradle build system, and conducting performance testing on dynamic UI. AI-Enabled Platform Development: Build advanced developer tooling and leverage AI-enabled development concepts (e.g., SDD, Agentic workflows) to accelerate productivity and platform innovation. If interested please apply to the position: https://lnkd.in/eaSbk-ga

Jared Sheehan shared thisIf you haven't heard about DevFest DC - let me tell you - its been a staple of my life since 2012. I went to my frist #GoogleDeveloperGroup meetup on the AOL campus (yeah I know it's been a minute) and met my good friend Chida Sadayappan who was running it. Little did I know it was the beginning of my journey into the software engineering community. In the following decade I would invest heavily in my growth as a software engineer through events, meetups and conferences including DevFest DC . DevFest DC has been a staple of the DC Area and, at one point, was the largest GDG event in the world (heck it might still be). If you are flexible on Friday August 28th (less then two weeks from today) I #strongly recommend you check out DevFest DC 2026. You will learn all about #AI & #Data, #Agents & #Robotics, Programming Languages & Frameworks, and of course tons of local #Innovation I am particularly excited about the Keynote by Nathen Harvey who is the DORA Lead at Google Cloud, on scaling and eliminating bottlenecks in an #AI-first world. Dark Factories run by armies of AI Agents are coming, are you prepared? =) Anyway, Chida Sadayappan tells me that Early bird pricing ends August 24, [www.devfestdc.org] so get your tickets today. Direct Link to tickets w/ a 25% discount: https://lnkd.in/ec92cWut Hope to see you there!

Jared Sheehan shared thisThe DORA lead at Google presenting at DevFest DC ? Um yes please! I'd love to hear how the shift to an Agentic Future of Software will affect how we measure productivity. For instance, How do we validate that software quality, compliance and speed hits (or exceeds) the bar when intent is fed into Dark Factorys run by agents with far fewer (or no) humans in the loop? How will Dora measurements change? Or will they? Get your tickets and (hopefully) find out 😎Jared Sheehan shared thisIf you're building anything with AI right now, you need to hear this. We’re so excited to announce that Nathen Harvey, DORA Lead, Google Cloud, is our DevFest DC 2026 keynote speaker!!! He's bringing his expertise to Arlington to share how organizations can scale brilliance, eliminate bottlenecks, and thrive in an AI-first world. (ʘ ͜ʖ ʘ) 🗓️ Friday, August 28 · 8:30 AM–6:00 PM · 📍 Fuse at Mason Square, Arlington, VA 🚀 Join Nathen for his keynote, "Building in the AI-first world: Scale brilliance, not bottlenecks." Jared Sheehan reposted thisJared Sheehan reposted thisThank you very much, DC, for having me. Today, I had the honor of speaking at DevFest DC, one of the biggest developer gatherings in the DMV this year, sponsored by Google. Wow It was inspiring to see so many brilliant minds come together, with major companies like Google, Deloitte, Marriott, Boston Dynamics, and many others represented in the room. Even more special was connecting with the vibrant DMV developer community; the energy, curiosity, and collaboration reminded me why I love being part of this industry. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to share knowledge on Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), a topic that’s not only exciting but also still new to me. Sometimes the best way to learn is to teach, and today was a perfect example of that. A big thank you to the organizers and everyone who came out to make this event so impactful. I will tag them down here and listen next year. You need to attend Devfest DC. Jared Sheehan reposted thisJared Sheehan reposted thisDevFest DC this Friday delivered big time! Started the day ready to learn about GenAI and agentic AI, ended it with a head full of insights and connections that I’m still processing. Key takeaways from the day: Keras, Evolved: Yufeng Guo’s opening on “Keras in the age of GenAI and LLMs” was the perfect start. The framework has matured beautifully—now supporting both TensorFlow and PyTorch backends, with KerasHub making fine-tuning accessible. The democratization of ML tooling is real. Enterprise Reality Check: The “From Hype to Reality” session with Annyce Davis (Ford) and Devesh Arora (Marriott) cut through the noise. Their message: successful GenAI deployment isn’t about having the fanciest models—it’s about organizational readiness, clear use cases, and building trust with stakeholders. Tooling is table stakes; culture and process are the differentiators. Agentic Systems Beyond Python: Clinton Teegarden’s “Think AI Agents Are Only for Python? Think Again” was eye-opening. Watching agentic workflows run in Kotlin and seeing JVM languages join the AI agent conversation reminded me that innovation happens when we break assumptions. Government + AI at Scale: The session on “Harnessing Agentic Systems for Government Optimization” with Chris Tonjes (DC DOES CIO), Gerry Gomez, Kenneth Walker, and Ximena Gates showed how AI can drive real public sector impact. Optimization at city-scale is a different beast, and seeing practical implementations was inspiring. Robot Moment: And yes, that’s me with Boston Dynamics’ robot! Getting hands-on with cutting-edge robotics was surreal. It’s one thing to watch videos—it’s another to see the precision, balance, and AI integration up close. The future is here, and it’s incredibly cool. Building Trust in AI: Noble Ackerson’s talk on “The Five Pillars of Calibrated Trust” resonated deeply. Enterprises need agentic systems they can actually deploy and trust. Security, transparency, and reliability aren’t afterthoughts—they’re foundational. Big shoutout to the speakers, organizers, and everyone I connected with today. Also grateful to have heard insights from leaders like Chida Sadayappan (Managing Director at Deloitte), Annyce Davis and Devesh Arora who brought enterprise perspective to the AI conversation. DevFest DC delivered—packed schedule, real learnings, and a community that’s pushing the boundaries. Already thinking about how to apply these insights. Let’s keep building! #DevFestDC #GoogleDevFest #AI #GenAI #LLMs #AgenticAI #MachineLearning #BostonDynamics #Robotics #EnterpriseAI #TechCommunity #SoftwareEngineering

Jared Sheehan liked thisJared Sheehan liked thisTwo weeks ago I joined MGT as the interim Head of Talent Acquisition! MGT is a leading provider of technology and advisory solutions serving state, local, and education government agencies (SLED). On my first day, I had the opportunity hear directly from our CEO Trey Traviesa. I was inspired by his passion for our mission to drive impact at scale and by his authentic, transparent communication style, which I've seen in every MGT leader I've met so far. There’s lots of interesting and challenging work ahead, which makes this builder’s brain happy. Big thanks to Laura Sue D'Annunzio for the opportunity. Let’s go!

Jared Sheehan liked thisJared Sheehan liked thisI’m so excited to share that I’ve started a new role internally as a Chief of Staff in Customer Identity and Core Capital One! When I reflect back on the path that brought me here, I have to give a huge shoutout to three incredible leaders who I will miss working with greatly- Jessica Riley Mazor, M.S., Colleen Ferry Frazier, and Carolyn Query!! Something I’ve learned from working with them is that real leadership is all about creating opportunities for others. I will never forget Carolyn Query pulling up with me and giving me the opportunity to send an email she could have easily sent to one of our senior leaders. She wanted me to highlight some of the work I was doing and wanted to be sure the email was perfect. She spent time to walk through writing an executive summary, preferences on communication styles between leaders, and proofread my draft. Most importantly she let me hit send. Colleen, and Carolyn gave me the autonomy to run with big ideas, backed me with visibility in front of senior leaders, and truly advocated for my growth. They encouraged me to build relationships across the business, which made all the difference and ultimately led me right to where I am today. I feel so lucky to have been met with "Liz, you HAVE to go for this!" when I expressed interest in making this internal move. Working at Capital One has been the biggest gift in my career thus far, and it's truly a pinch me moment to be working under Amy Rosenfield and the broader CIC and eData Chief of Staff teams!

Jared Sheehan liked thisJared Sheehan liked thisAt Capital One, we run one deployment platform for the whole company - every engineer here ships through it. It has to be quick enough that developers like using it and rigorous enough to satisfy a regulated bank; most places get to pick one. My team builds that platform, along with release decision systems, controls enforcement, and infrastructure build and configuration systems. And we are figuring out how to scale and handle the changes as agentic coding transforms our industry. Richard Schell, Sandy Sen, and I are sharing more about this and taking your questions on Friday, September 25, 12–1 PM ET. I hope you can make it! Register: https://lnkd.in/enMiQAcs

From Claude Code for developers to Claude Cowork for everyone else—this is a real shift. Stop controlling prompts and start controlling outcomes. Instead of just chatting, you give Claude access to a local folder so it can read, edit, and create files to tackle multi-step tasks like organizing docs, building spreadsheets, or drafting reports. It’s the move from “assistant” to true AI agents at work. Sure, it has bugs—but directionally, it’s very promising. #AI #Claude #vibecoding https://lnkd.in/ghmFtTFp

Across four posts: no switch, no readable regular-versus-irregular category, no dedicated component, and no rule direction that even a gradient-descent optimizer could find. When the strongest available search for a thing turns up only tricks that game the metric, at some point that's an answer rather than a failed search.

I look for one thing when pressure hits: can the team still think? Speed without judgment creates risk. Experience creates the space to make better calls under speed, grounding execution velocity in engineering rigor and governance that scales. That’s how Svitla turns strategy into outcomes fast, without breaking trust. https://bit.ly/4qKp2ml #SvitlaAI

Six months ago, Spotnana engineering committed fully to Claude Code and Cursor. Adoption happened quickly and naturally. What surprised us most was a feature released last July in that many developers still haven't discovered: custom sub-agents. When you use ClaudeCode in its default form, you're working with a capable generalist. Custom sub-agents let you create specialists instead. You define them by placing a markdown file in the .claude/agents/ directory with simple YAML frontmatter that sets the agent's name, persona, and allowed tools. Claude then automatically delegates tasks to the appropriate specialist based on context and no manual prompting required. Each sub-agent runs in its own isolated context window, so your main conversation stays clean. The agents are also shareable across projects, which lets institutional knowledge build over time. The biggest challenge we faced was getting routing reliable. When agent descriptions overlap even slightly, Claude struggles to choose the right one. We've learned to make each persona description extremely precise and distinct. Another lesson came the hard way: sub-agents inherit your permission settings by default. I once gave a research-focused agent write access, and it began refactoring code while trying to investigate a bug. One improvement I would love to see is a clear post-session audit log that shows which agent handled which actions and when. Right now, tracing responsibility requires digging through long transcripts, which slows down debugging and makes accountability harder. If you're already using Claude Code (or Cursor with Claude) and haven't tried the /agents feature yet, you're missing out on significant capability. What sub-agents has your team built, and how have they changed your workflow? #ClaudeCode #AICoding #AgenticAI #CursorAI #DeveloperTools
