Jim Farley reposted thisJim Farley reposted thisBig news from Detroit today! At Ford Pro Accelerate, we announced a new campaign with Ford Motor Company, The Home Depot, Dycom Industries, Inc and The Wallace Foundation to address one of the country’s most pressing workplace challenges. More than two million skilled trades jobs are estimated to be open by 2030 — and too many young people don’t know how to access these opportunities. We are so grateful to our founding partners who are working with us to close that gap, and it’s a big tent, so we’re inviting others to join us. Jim Farley shared thisAmerica needs people who know how to build things, fix things and make things work. Electricians. Technicians. Welders. Plumbers. Construction workers. Manufacturing experts. These careers matter. The people who do them matter. And America’s future depends on them. America is currently facing a skilled trades crisis: an estimated 2.1 million positions could go unfilled by 2030. Meanwhile, many young adults are unaware of how to pursue these careers. The issue isn’t a lack of demand or opportunity. It’s making sure the next generation knows where those opportunities are and how to get started. That’s why Ford Motor Company is proud to be a founding partner in a new Ad Council effort with Dycom Industries, Inc, The Home Depot and the The Wallace Foundation to help more young people understand the opportunities available in the trades — and, just as importantly, how to get there. There are incredible careers available for people who want to work with their hands, solve real problems and build things that matter. We need these skills to build the future of America. And we need to do a much better job showing young people what’s possible. That’s my hope for this new campaign… to make these careers easier to see and easier to pursue. Jim Farley shared thisAt Ford Motor Company, we care a lot about the Essential Economy, which is the workers who build, fix, and maintain the physical world around us. These skilled trades are the backbone of American manufacturing and we need solutions for closing the skills gap, and providing the education and resources that will power the productivity and growth of the Essential Economy. Across industries and public and private sectors, we all need to work together. That's why this summer, Larry Fink from BlackRock, Ruth Porat from Alphabet Inc. & Google, Linda Hubbard from Carhartt, and I launched the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades. Among other goals, we wanted to build a shared, trusted foundation of data on the state of skilled trades across America. So today, in partnership with Jobs for the Future (JFF) and The Burning Glass Institute, we’re officially publishing — The State of America's Skilled Trades: A National Report https://lnkd.in/d9gr_DsU The report examines the forces shaping supply and demand across occupations and regions, to show where workforce systems are working well, where they're under strain, and where focused action can make the biggest difference. Alongside the report, we're launching America's Skilled Trades Dashboard — a first-of-its-kind interactive tool that makes the data accessible in one place. It breaks down the data by occupation and state, making it easy to explore local labor market conditions, identify where the need is greatest, and compare progress across regions. The dashboard is available at https://lnkd.in/d9gr_DsU We also set out to grow this movement. Today, we're welcoming new partners - AT&T, Barton Malow, Blackstone, Cintas, DEWALT, Dycom Industries, Inc, The Hershey Company, ManpowerGroup, Meta, Microsoft, Milwaukee Tool, NVIDIA, Verizon and Waymo. Each has already stepped up individually. Now we're stepping up together. Today, Ford Motor Company, JPMorganChase, the State of Michigan, Michigan Central and Newlab launched Michigan LIFT, a new public-private initiative designed to help innovative suppliers grow and strengthen American manufacturing. Alongside the launch, Ford Philanthropy and JPMorganChase announced support for Focus: HOPE in Detroit to strengthen its industrial manufacturing training program — helping more people build the skills and connections to pursue careers in Michigan’s manufacturing sector. The investment will support training in manufacturing, robotics and welding, while expanding employer connections, career placement support and transportation assistance for trainees. Jim Farley liked thisJim Farley liked thisGreat to be in Detroit for Ford Accelerate, where an important focus is on the future of America’s skilled trades. As we invest in advanced manufacturing, data centers, energy infrastructure and the power grid, technology alone won’t get us there. We also need the skilled electricians, technicians, welders, construction professionals and other tradespeople who actually build, install and maintain this infrastructure. We see this every day at Nextpower. The growth of energy storage and the increasing demands being placed on the U.S. power system are creating tremendous opportunities—but delivering at scale requires both innovation and a strong, highly skilled American workforce. It’s encouraging to see Ford and other industry leaders putting a spotlight on skilled trades and the critical role they will play in building America’s next generation of infrastructure. #FordAccelerate #SkilledTrades #EnergyStorage #EnergyInfrastructure #AmericanManufacturing

Good news for us, American automotive suppliers. In a decisive move to strengthen its U.S. footprint, Stellantis announced a $13 billion investment through 2030, marking the largest capital deployment in its history. As reported by Ryan Felton The Wall Street Journal , the plan underscores CEO Antonio Filosa’s strategy to revitalize Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler production in the Midwest while mitigating the $1.5 billion annual tariff burden from recent trade policies. The initiative includes reopening the Belvidere, Illinois plant for Jeep Cherokee and Compass SUV production by 2028, adding over 5,000 direct jobs and potentially 20,000 supplier jobs. This strategic realignment represents a pivotal industrial shift, reducing import dependence (currently 45%) and repositioning Stellantis as a more resilient, U.S.-anchored automaker. The blend of gas-powered and electrified models reflects a pragmatic approach amid fluctuating EV economics and regulatory pressures. Beyond mitigating trade risk, Stellantis is clearly pursuing supply-chain localization, labor stability, and brand rejuvenation, particularly for Jeep, a cornerstone of its North American profitability. Filosa’s focus on “growth in this market” reflects a broader bid to restore competitiveness and operational agility across Stellantis’s global portfolio. DETROIT — General Motors' third-quarter results next week will include a $1.6 billion impact from its all-electric vehicle plans not playing out as anticipated. The Detroit automaker Tuesday morning in a public filing said $1.2 billion of the impact will be non-cash charges as a result of adjustments to its EV capacity. The other $400 million in cash is primarily related to contract cancellation fees and commercial settlements associated with EV-related investments, according to the filing. The automaker said its reassessment of its EV capacity and manufacturing footprint is "ongoing," signaling additional charges could be announced for future quarters.

🚨 News Alert: Dana to Merge With Eaton Mobility for $5.1B - Dana will merge with Eaton’s mobility arm in a $5.1 billion transaction, combining two established auto parts businesses in one of the larger automotive supplier deals announced this year. - The deal ties Dana, a major vehicle components supplier, with Eaton’s mobility business, adding scale across the auto parts sector as demand remains firm for supplier products. - From an M&A perspective, the transaction is a strategic combination rather than a sponsor-led buyout, with industrial logic centered on building a larger automotive components platform. - The merger suggests strategic buyers are still willing to pursue multi-billion-dollar supplier combinations when end-market demand supports scale, positioning, and potential consolidation benefits.
