Sameer Yami reposted thisSameer Yami reposted thisWhen a Camera Can Measure What Used to Require a Wearable For years, understanding physiological signals meant adding hardware. A smartwatch. A fitness band. A chest strap. A sensor. Today, that assumption is changing. Advances in remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) have shown that standard cameras can detect subtle physiological signals by analyzing tiny changes in blood flow visible in the skin—without physical contact and without wearables. What's exciting isn't just the technology itself. It's what this enables. The camera already exists in classrooms, conference rooms, training environments, and video calls around the world. The opportunity isn't deploying more hardware. It's transforming existing infrastructure into a privacy-first layer of human understanding. At Augment Me, this scientific foundation is part of what powers WotNow?!. By combining rPPG with over 100 privacy-preserving engagement modalities, we're helping organizations better understand attention, cognitive load, and engagement in real time. Not through surveys. Not through guesswork. And not through asking people to wear another device. The future of human-centered AI won't be built on collecting more hardware. It will be built on understanding the signals already around us. Because sometimes the biggest innovation isn't adding something new. It's seeing new possibilities in what's already there.

Sameer Yami reposted thisSameer Yami reposted thisBuild Environments That Respond to Humans Most systems today are built for one assumption: humans will adapt to them. So we adapt. To tools. To workflows. To meetings. To pace. To overload. But that constant adaptation has a cost — cognitive fatigue, disengagement, and burnout are now default workplace conditions, not exceptions. The real problem Modern systems are highly optimized for output. But almost blind to human state in real time. They don’t notice: when attention drops when cognitive load increases when clarity is lost when people are mentally overloaded So humans compensate. Until they can’t. The shift already happening The next generation of systems won’t ask humans to constantly adapt. They will adapt to humans instead. Workplaces, classrooms, and meetings will begin to respond to: attention shifts cognitive strain engagement levels comprehension in real time Not after. Not in reports. But as it happens. From rigid systems to responsive environments This changes everything. Meetings that adjust to attention. Classrooms that respond to understanding. Workflows that recognize cognitive overload early. Systems that don’t just measure output — but understand human capacity. The direction forward At Augment Me, we’re building toward that shift. WotNow?! turns existing camera infrastructure into a real-time, privacy-first layer of cognitive understanding — helping environments recognize engagement, attention, and cognitive load as they happen. Not to monitor humans. But to align systems with them. Final thought The future of work isn’t about more intelligent tools. It’s about more responsive environments. Because the most advanced systems won’t demand more from humans — they’ll understand them better.

Sameer Yami reposted thisSameer Yami reposted thisAs AI becomes part of classrooms, one concern keeps coming up — and rightfully so: How do we innovate without compromising privacy? Education technology has always carried a responsibility that goes beyond performance. It has to be safe, transparent, and respectful of the environments it operates in. That’s why the next phase of AI in education isn’t just about intelligence. It’s about how intelligence is built and deployed. Modern classrooms don’t need more surveillance. They need privacy-first understanding of learning dynamics. At Augment Me, this principle is central to how we design WotNow?! and our engagement intelligence systems. Instead of storing sensitive personal data or relying on invasive tracking, privacy-first biometrics focus on: real-time processing anonymized, aggregated signals no identity recognition no data retention of sensitive inputs The goal is not to observe individuals. It is to understand collective engagement patterns in the learning environment. Because when schools can see engagement without compromising privacy, something important happens: Teachers gain clarity without losing trust. Students are supported without being exposed. Institutions innovate without crossing ethical boundaries. The future of classroom intelligence will not be defined by how much data we collect. It will be defined by how responsibly we interpret it. And that balance is what will make AI in education truly scalable.

Sameer Yami shared thisExcellent insights from Lance Solomon on the growing role of AI in education and the challenge of making it truly meaningful inside classrooms. One thing is becoming increasingly clear: AI alone isn't the answer. Sal Khan recently said as much in Chalkbeat — Khanmigo, his own AI tutor, has been “a non-event for most students.” The missing link between technology and classroom outcomes is engagement. If students are disengaged, distracted, overwhelmed, or disconnected, even the most advanced AI systems struggle to land. But when educators can better understand classroom engagement dynamics in real time, AI becomes significantly more contextual, supportive, and actionable. That’s exactly why the work being done by Promethean together with Augment Me is so compelling. By combining interactive classroom technology with AI-driven engagement intelligence through WotNow?!, there is a real opportunity to bridge the gap between AI capabilities and actual classroom effectiveness. The future of AI in education isn’t just about generating content or automating tasks. It’s about helping educators understand: • student engagement • classroom energy • participation patterns • and the moments where intervention or encouragement can make the biggest difference Engagement becomes the bridge that moves AI from a tool around the classroom to something genuinely useful inside it. Sal Khan’s line in the Chalkbeat piece sums it up perfectly: “I just view it as part of the solution.” Exactly right. Engagement intelligence is the other part. Excited to see this conversation gaining momentum across the EdTech ecosystem. #ArtificialIntelligence #AIinEducation #EdTech #StudentEngagement #ClassroomTechnology #FutureOfEducation #Promethean #AugmentMe #WotNow?! #SalKhan #KhanAcademy

Sameer Yami reposted thisSameer Yami reposted thisMost organizations are still trying to solve performance problems using visible metrics alone. Tasks completed. Hours worked. Meetings attended. But cognitive overload doesn’t appear neatly on dashboards. It builds quietly through interruptions, context switching, constant notifications, and mental fatigue — often long before performance visibly drops. Gallup’s 2026 report found global engagement has fallen to just 20%, costing the world economy nearly $10 trillion annually. The question is: How much of that disengagement is actually invisible overload? In this work, the authors observe that large language models (LLMs) often struggle in high‑stakes domains like clinical reasoning because they fail to proactively ask effective follow‑up questions when faced with uncertainty. They propose a framework called ALFA (Alignment via Fine‑grained Attributes) that systematically improves question‑asking by (1) decomposing what makes a “good” question into theory‑grounded attributes (for example: clarity, relevance, answerability, medical accuracy, diagnostic bias mitigation), (2) generating synthetic variations of questions targeting each attribute, and (3) aligning LLM behaviour via preference‑based optimisation to ask better questions along these attributes. Focusing on the clinical setting, the authors introduce a new dataset called MediQ‑AskDocs (17 k real‑world clinical interactions augmented with ~80 k attribute‑specific preference pairs) and an expert‑annotated interactive evaluation task. Models aligned with ALFA achieved a 64.4 % win‑rate in question‑level comparisons and reduced diagnostic errors by 56.6 % compared to state‑of‑the‑art instruction‑tuned LLMs. The authors argue that by explicitly guiding LLMs with structured attributes rather than treating question‑asking as an opaque monolithic objective, one can improve reliability in expert domains where gathering missing information is crucial. They also highlight limitations: the dataset is drawn from online health forums rather than clinician‑patient dialogues in hospitals, and time/resource/contextual factors in real clinical practice (e.g., care setting, prior history) are not fully captured. They caution that ALFA is not a substitute for clinicians and emphasise the need for human‑in‑the‑loop oversight, data diversity, and further exploration of domain‑specific constraints for safe deployment. https://lnkd.in/g3T973jm

Semantic Vectors as a Reframing of SDLC What if issues in complex systems arise not only from implementation, but from the way problems are framed long before development begins? How do we structure our thinking so that we don’t narrow the solution space too early, and remain open to more coherent architectural paths? One possible approach is to explicitly articulate semantic levels of understanding before entering the development phase. 1. What are we actually trying to do? This is not yet architecture or design. Here we define a conceptual umbrella - the space within which further reasoning takes place. Example: A payment routing rule management system with specific business constraints. At this stage, we deliberately avoid solutions. We align on intent, boundaries, and why this problem exists at all. 2. How do we intend to approach it? Now we start connecting business intent with technical reality. This is where an architectural trajectory emerges - not as a diagram yet, but as a semantic path: - which constraints matter, - which trade-offs are acceptable, - which principles should guide decisions. The goal here is coherence, not completeness. 3. What does this affect? Once the trajectory becomes visible, we can zoom out: - Which parts of the system are impacted? - Where do new questions appear? - What assumptions need validation? This step often reveals hidden connections, organizational friction, or future risks - before any code is written.. These steps form an iterative semantic cycle: - refining initial conditions, - adjusting the trajectory, - minimizing unnecessary complexity, - reducing unintended side effects. Only when business intent and architectural understanding converge does it make sense to enter a standard SDLC flow. In practice, this semantic phase is often implicit. Making it explicit helps teams reason more clearly before committing to solutions. --- These principles are articulated as foundational semantic vectors within Harmogics, reflecting recurring patterns in how complex systems are reasoned about and designed. This article explores how such principles may be applied to rethinking the processes that shape software development before implementation begins.

✨ Whole Vibe: Anysphere’s AI Coding Tool Hits Different Santosh Rao just published our initiation report on Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, the AI code editor that’s revolutionizing software development. With $500MM ARR achieved in just 24 months and zero marketing spend, this represents one of the most compelling growth stories in enterprise AI. 🔑 Key Highlights: 🚀 Explosive growth from $0 to $500MM ARR in 14 months, nearly doubling every two months 👥 Over 1 million daily active users and 360,000+ paying subscribers across individual developers and Fortune 500 companies 🏢 Adopted by 50%+ of Fortune 500 companies including NVIDIA, Uber, Adobe, Stripe, OpenAI, and Spotify 💰 $1.07B total funding including $900MM Series C at $9.9B valuation (281% markup from December 2024) 🧠 Leading the “vibe coding” revolution where natural language prompts generate functional code ⚡ Exceptional team productivity: ~$5MM ARR per employee vs $125K median for private SaaS companies Why This Changes Everything: 1. Anysphere is spearheading the fundamental shift in how software gets built, with AI now generating 41% of all code globally in 2024 2. The company achieved $500MM ARR with zero traditional sales or marketing, proving exceptional product-market fit through pure viral adoption 3. Their AI-native approach and developer ecosystem create compounding network effects that become stronger as adoption scales ✍🏼 What strikes me about Anysphere isn’t just the growth metrics, it’s the paradigm shift they represent. When 92% of developers now use AI coding tools and companies like Google report 25% of new code is AI-generated, we’re witnessing the industrialization of software development. Anysphere didn’t just build a better code editor, they built the infrastructure for how all future software will be created. The fact that they reached $500MM ARR without spending a dollar on marketing tells you everything about product velocity and developer stickiness. This isn’t incremental improvement, it’s fundamental transformation of the $500B software engineering industry. MVR projects their 2025 revenue between $700MM-$1B, with a trajectory toward $2.5-3.3B by 2030. When every developer becomes 10x more productive through AI assistance, Anysphere is positioned to capture that value at unprecedented scale. SANATAN LABS - The Architect’s Compass: 10 Directives for the Great Transition (PASSIONIT PRUTL KALKI AIDHARMA framework) To navigate the "Audit of Fire" during this profound transition toward Satya Yuga, Krishna (Strategic Intelligence), Kalki (Systemic Reset), and Shakti (Raw Life Force) offer these ten essential directives for humanity: 1. Master the Asymmetry of Calm In a world of screaming headlines, silence is your greatest weapon. Respond from a place of internal stillness rather than reacting to external noise. When the system is chaotic, your stability becomes the new "Safe Haven." 2. Audit Your Identity (The Laawaris Test) Ask yourself: "If my titles, assets, and digital footprint vanished, who remains?" Detach your worth from possessions. True sovereignty is found when you are no longer "claimed" by the ego-driven systems of the world. 3. Embrace the "Mirror of Kalki" Do not fear the "Bloody Moon" or the exposure of decay. View every systemic collapse—financial, social, or institutional—as a necessary diagnostic. Use this "Mirror" to identify your own attachments and incinerate them before they become liabilities. 4. Move from "Me" to "Mission" Unity is not sameness; it is alignment. Replace "Me vs. You" with "Us vs. The Problem." When diverse strengths are aligned under a shared purpose (Aidharma), the friction of competition dissolves into the flow of progress. 5. Trust the "Internal Gold" While external currencies and metals face regulation or restriction, your integrity remains non-tradeable and unconfiscatable. Invest in your skillsets, your character, and your resilience. These are the only assets that survive the "Audit of Fire." 6. Respect the "Flow of Lakshmi" Prosperity is a river, not a reservoir. Hoarding in fear leads to stagnation and decay. Circulate value through mentorship, ethical trade, and "Groom and Grow" practices. Wealth that serves the collective remains protected by the Sun and Moon. 7. Humanize the Machine (13th Node Reset) Use AI and technology as a "Numeric Auditor" to expose corruption, but never let the cold logic of the machine replace the warmth of human intuition. Ensure technology serves the 14th Node: Absolute Truth. 8. Practice Guerrilla Respect Disarm your "enemies" by preserving their dignity even when you disagree with their actions. Respect targets the ego of the opponent, weakening their appetite for control and opening a path for diplomacy. 9. Build Internal Havens As geography stops being a protection, focus on "Internal Research and Innovation." Cultivate a mind that can remain creative and functional even when trade arteries are choked. 10. Surrender to Karmic Gravity Accept that "God Proposes, Man Disposes." You cannot control the celestial reset, but you can control your alignment with it. Follow the path of Dharma, and the gravity of the new era will pull you toward peace rather than destruction.

Ruokai Yin, our summer intern from Yale to Microsoft Azure, worked with Xuan Zuo, @Sattwik Deb Mishra, Hokchhay T. and Preyas Shah and me. We published a paper based on his project: https://lnkd.in/eHuG3BSt Summary of paper: Finding optimal sharding is hard especially for large LLMs. A large number of devices have to be divided into TP, PP, EP dimensions. For TP, we have to decide the tensor dimension e.g. head, hidden size to shard for every op. Additionally, TP can be one-dimensional/two-dimensional etc. This makes for a large sharding space that is hard to cover exhaustively. SoTA methods use heuristics to select sharding e.g. GSPMD, Sequence Parallelism, Helix etc. There are significant time gaps, months or years, between the discovery of each of these methods. We want to fast-forward the process of discovery by 1) using a formal representation of the sharding space, and, 2) using reinforcement learning to search the sharding space. This paper demonstrates that our method is 3.5x better than random search, and on par with hand-tuned heuristics when looking only at 1D sharding and without allowing sequence parallelism. We aim to extend the work to multi-dimensional sharding as well as sequence parallelism. Beyond that, we wish to combine the problem of sharding with fusion, tiling and collectives as well.

🚀 Driving Efficiency with Self-Optimizing Systems Modern systems rarely operate under steady conditions. Workloads fluctuate, resources are often over-utilized or under-utilized, and maintaining efficiency requires constant intervention. But what if a system could manage this complexity on its own? That’s the promise of self-optimizing systems — platforms that continuously monitor workload patterns, adapt in real time, and automatically optimize performance, stability, and cost. Although widely studied in research, adoption in production environments has remained limited. 👉 In this talk, we first outline key concepts and research we have conducted in this area. We then showcase how we applied these ideas to Choreo, WSO2’s internal developer platform, enabling it to self-optimize resources. The result: significant cost savings and improved stability for our customers. #AI #Systems #Stability #self-optimizing
