Tim Root posted thisRise Above: Moving Past Petty Conflicts for Greater Purpose As leaders, colleagues, and team members, we often encounter minor disagreements that threaten to overshadow our larger objectives. Petty conflicts, whether arising from misunderstandings, differing approaches, or conflicting priorities, have the potential to sap our energy, erode trust, and impede progress. However, it is essential to remember that true greatness is not attained by dwelling on trivial disputes. As the scripture wisely states, "Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who seek counsel" (Proverbs 13:10). In leadership, whether in the realms of ministry, business, or community, the ability to discern the significant from the insignificant is a hallmark of maturity. Here are some guiding principles that I have found valuable: - **Pause Before Reacting** - Not every disagreement warrants a confrontation. Consider: Will this matter in a week? A year? - **Seek Understanding, Not Victory** - Prioritize listening. Oftentimes, conflicts endure because individuals feel their perspectives are not heard. - **Focus on the Mission** - Align every engagement with your overarching purpose. Do not allow minor discord to derail your grand vision. - **Choose Grace** - At times, the most powerful choice is to forgive, adapt, and progress, even when you have the option to stand firm. In a world that often magnifies division, let us strive to be leaders who exemplify reconciliation, sagacity, and progress. The most effective teams and impactful ministries refuse to permit trivial matters to overshadow their core objectives. How do you navigate conflicts while staying centered on the broader picture? Your insights are welcome below. 👇 #Leadership #ConflictResolution #Ministry #Teamwork #GraceUnderPressure

Tim Root posted thisThe recent wave of government layoffs has sparked significant changes in our workforce landscape. With a multitude of public sector professionals now exploring new opportunities, the job market is experiencing both challenges and new possibilities. **Immediate Impact:** The surge of skilled government workers entering the job market is intensifying competition in various sectors. Companies in consulting, healthcare, education, and infrastructure are witnessing a rise in qualified applicants with diverse skills and expertise. **Opportunities Amid Transition:** Employers now have the chance to access a talent pool rich in experience navigating regulatory frameworks, managing large projects, and implementing efficient systems that prioritize public interest. Transitioning workers may need to adapt to different organizational cultures, but their valued government skills align well with today's compliance-driven corporate world. **Looking Forward:** As someone engaged with public and private sector entities, I foresee: - Enhanced innovation through the fusion of public and private sector approaches - Growth of hybrid organizations blending government expertise with private sector flexibility - Emergence of entrepreneurial endeavors led by former government professionals addressing service gaps For those in transition, remember that your adeptness in managing stakeholders and adhering to stringent guidelines holds immense value for organizations navigating the intricate regulatory terrain of today. Share your experiences. Have you observed these shifts in your industry? Your insights are valuable. #CareerTransition #GovernmentLayoffs #JobMarket #WorkforceTrends #LeadershipInsights

Tim Root posted thisThe Business Case for Unity: Why Division is Your Company's Greatest Risk In today’s hyper-polarized world, businesses face a silent killer: internal division. Teams fracture over competing visions. Leaders clash over strategy. Silos form, innovation stalls, and culture erodes. But what if the solution isn’t another corporate initiative—but a principle as old as the Church itself? Why Unity is a Competitive Advantage 1️⃣ Divided Teams Fail "Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste." (Matthew 12:25) History proves it—companies that prioritize alignment outperform those mired in infighting. A unified vision isn’t just nice to have; it’s survival. 2️⃣ Diversity ≠ Division The early Church thrived because Jews and Gentiles, slaves and free, united under one mission (Galatians 3:28). Likewise, the best businesses don’t demand uniformity—they harness diverse strengths toward one clear goal. 3️⃣ Trust is the Currency of Growth "By this everyone will know... if you love one another." (John 13:35) Replace "love" with "trust," and you have the foundation of every high-performing team. Without it, execution falters. 3 Ways to Lead for Unity 🔹 Name the Enemy – Not competitors, but internal discord. 🔹 Elevate Shared Mission – Like the Apostles’ Creed for business: What do we all agree is non-negotiable? 🔹 Model Bridge-Building – Conflict is inevitable. Division is a choice. The Bottom Line: The world’s most resilient organizations—from startups to global ministries—aren’t those without conflict, but those that refuse to let conflict define them. Your team is watching. Will they see another divided house—or a united force that outlasts the competition? #Leadership #BusinessStrategy #CorporateCulture #HighPerformanceTeams #FaithInBusiness

None of them have surprised me. I was a shy kid that graduated next to last in his high school class of 177 kids. (Yes, Stan Farmer was last). Fred taught me everything I ever needed to know about leading people. He said it all came from the Marine Corps leader manual. It’s a short read and I highly recommend it. I was blessed to report to him for the last 4 years at FedEx. I was able to port his culture to several other companies. I am struck today that he was there for a lot of the important days of my life. My daughter was born premature at 2 pounds. Who called the house first at 7am to see what he could do? Fred. When my Dad passed, he was the first person to call me the next morning. It also astounded me when I would be on the phone with him and he would say, “Hold on, John McCain is on the other line” or some other very famous person. And someday I’ll have to tell the story of him teaching George W. Bush how to drink beer at Yale and me getting to talk to the President about it on one of my visits to the Oval Office. He definitely had a life well lived and inspired hundreds of thousands of people.

It has been a dream career with an extraordinary company that stood by us all in 2020 and gave us the tools we needed to carve a new and even more successful path forward. My final day will be on June 13 where my first step will be preparing my house in WA for sale and getting ready to move to Italy in the fall! This dream has been several years in the making and I will launch it by spending a month at an immersive Italian language school in the heart of Rome. Once completed, I will head to my home in the beautiful Tuscia area of Central Italy. I wanted to go out “on top” and was able to achieve that thanks to an extraordinary team and support teams, that played all in each and every day, my team finished our fourth quarter yet again, at #1 in the Nation! I can’t wait to see where I can be of service in Italy while I am enjoying the extraordinary sights around me (in between otherworldly Italian meals, of course)! So thank you to all of my friends and co-workers in both the Print and Telecom Industries. You have kept me inspired, engaged and always learning! I can honestly say that I have rarely/to never, been bored! I take with me delightful memories, life experiences, friendships, lessons learned, 4 #1 International Best Selling Books, an induction into Who’s Who in America, and room full of other (and always appreciated) awards. All have contributed to assiting in developing my confidence in being both happy and successful regardless of the paths I choose to take, moving forward. Thank you all for being such shining North stars in my life! Ciao for now! Jan Stay in touch! You can reach me at jschiffners@aol.com.

Trade show staffing adds up—fast. Depending on the show location, travel, hotel, and F&B can cost $2,500–$3,000 per person. And that doesn’t even factor in the opportunity cost of pulling your team away from the business. So the question is: How are you deciding the right number of people to staff your booth each day? For most teams, it comes down to a mix of pre-scheduled meetings and booth size. But that’s only part of the picture. What about: ❓ Engagement rates at your booth. ❓ Conversion patterns from conversations to pipeline. ❓ Diminishing returns from overstaffing. There’s far more data available than most teams are using. At Gradeshow, we turn that data into clear, actionable insights—helping exhibitors optimize booth coverage, reduce unnecessary spend, and ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time. Because staffing decisions shouldn’t be guesswork. They should be measurable, intentional, and tied to ROI. ✅ Contact us to learn more: www.gradeshow.com #TradeShows #EventMarketing #B2BMarketing #MarketingROI #EventStrategy #RevenueGrowth

Yelp just made response time a competitive advantage. With its new integration into Housecall Pro, Yelp Request a Quote leads now flow directly into the Job Inbox alongside Google, Thumbtack, Angi, and more. No toggling between apps. No manual data entry. No missed notifications. And this matters more than most businesses realize. In a recent Housecall Pro survey, 97% of homeowners said response time influences who they hire. Speed isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s revenue. For home service pros running Yelp Ads, this creates a real edge. Faster response. Cleaner workflows. Better close rates. Ad platforms are starting to plug directly into operating systems. The businesses that win won’t just generate leads, they’ll respond first. https://lnkd.in/g7uz77EY
