I've created "Proof Forge", a just-for-fun experiment in AI-assisted proof creation, editing, and question answering. https://lnkd.in/gU5WYvdV Proof Forge can construct proofs for familiar theorems at multiple levels of formality, so that every reader can find the level that suits them, whether it's plain English, a semi-formal intuitive explanation, or a detailed rigorous proof. They can chat with an AI assistant to explain parts of the proof they don't understand, and select text to provide context. The syntax and rendering is pretty powerful: supports Markdown with embedded LaTeX style math expressions and raw HTML. It also supports collapsible details-summary sections for definitions and the like. The initial versions of the proof are AI generated, but proof owners can edit the raw markdown to their hearts content or request edits in the chat interface. Users can also roll back to previous versions of the proof. User-created proofs are visible only to that user by default but there is an admin UI for approving proofs for general visibility. I created this using Firebase Studio. I did run into its limitations from time-to-time but as with the my list management app it was a nice toolkit because of the Firebase database integration and rapid web prototyping. I’ve just published the next installment in my "Theory of Durable Execution" series. Across frameworks we hear terms like workflows, activities, virtual objects, handlers, and functions. Underneath the terminology, they’re all describing a small number of execution patterns. In this new post, I break durable functions down into three forms: 🔹 Stateless functions for one-shot deterministic logic 🔹 Sessions for long-running, interactive orchestration 🔹 Actors for persistent, message-driven state To get there, I walk through: 🔹 The behavior–state continuum 🔹 How identity, lifetime, communication, and concurrency shape execution semantics 🔹 How frameworks like Temporal, Restate, DBOS, and Resonate map onto these forms This builds on the previous two posts in the series: 🔹 Demystifying Determinism in Durable Execution 🔹 The Durable Function Tree (part 1 and 2) This was the last post in this series, distilling the various frameworks down to a simpler logical model. Thanks to the resurgence of RL, LLMs are finally able to reliably coordinate tools and reasoning to do high-precision retrieval. Companies like Happenstance, Clado, and Mintlify have already shifted to agentic search, and it's only a matter of time until anything less feels broken to users. Link to full blog in comments.
