What do creators wish they knew about LinkedIn when they graduated? 🎓 We asked a group of creators to share the lessons, opportunities, and first-post advice they wish they had at the start of their careers. Their biggest takeaway: don't wait until everything is perfect to get started.
One of the biggest mistakes many graduates make is waiting until they feel "ready" before showing up online. The truth is that opportunities often come from visibility, consistency, and a willingness to learn in public. Start where you are, share what you're learning, and let your growth journey speak for itself. At HieLite Academy, we've seen firsthand how a single post can spark connections, open doors, and create opportunities. Progress beats perfection every time.
Hello LinkedIn Support Team, I am facing an issue while uploading posts on LinkedIn. Whenever I try to publish a post, I receive the following error message: “We encountered a problem sharing your post. Try again.” I have tried multiple times, but the issue still persists. Could you please help me identify the cause of this problem and provide a solution as soon as possible? This issue is affecting my ability to post content on my LinkedIn account, so I would appreciate your urgent assistance. Thank you for your support. Best regards, Suraj Bhan Choudhary Suraj Stone World
Nobody remembers your first post anyway—except maybe your mom. ❤️ Just hit upload and optimize later! 🙌🏾
Thank you LinkedIn for sharing my advice! Another one I'd add for college students in particular is to share their current work/projects on LinkedIn. Document all your work! Start adding them to your portfolio. A college magazine or video production is still a valid published clip. You did the work, and it deserves to be seen. When I got out of college, I used my college magazine + newspaper clips in cold pitches to demonstrate my ability to write stories. I wrote my first piece for Refinery29 a little over a year after graduating from college. Don't think you're too young or inexperienced to shoot your shot.
One of the greatest career advantages is sharing what you learn as you grow. You don't need decades of experience to add value, curiosity, consistency, and authenticity often create the strongest professional connections. Great message!
The biggest career opportunities come from people who knew your work before they knew you.
Dont wait till you're 100% ready! Start posting, do the work - that is what builds your confidence.
One of the biggest lessons is that LinkedIn rewards consistency far more than perfection. The connections, opportunities, and insights compound over time, but only if you start showing up early.
LinkedIn love it x
"Building in public" is such a game-changer for early-career professionals. It shifts the focus from proving perfection to showcasing curiosity, growth, and adaptability—the exact traits modern employers look for. Getting started is always the hardest part, but the momentum it builds is unmatched. Thanks for sharing this reminder . 🪴
