Junnet Ali reposted thisJunnet Ali reposted thisDMV & Philly builders, mark your calendars for October 6!! Google's all day workshop is coming to town! Instead of sitting through another slide deck or mindlessly copy-pasting code, we’re spending the day actually building. We'll be going hands-on with Google’s agentic stack, getting into the weeds on how to architect real multi-agent systems, set up deterministic runtime boundaries, and decouple state from compute so workflows can handle human-in-the-loop approvals cleanly. Plus, it’s a great excuse to hang out and swap notes with other engineers from across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia tech scenes. Lab seats are pretty limited for this one, so make sure to grab your spot early: https://lnkd.in/eN4MVURz Who from my local network is heading over? Junnet Ali reacted on thisJunnet Ali reacted on thisI was rejected by Google twice before I finally got the offer. I wrote about this journey on Medium back in 2025, and looking back, it still feels surreal. In late 2018, I decided to pursue a PhD in Natural Language Processing. While I was knee-deep in my studies, I got the opportunity to interview at Google. I made it to the final step the team match call and matched with a team for an AI Developer Relations Engineering position. They decided to move forward with an internal candidate. One month later, another AI DevRel position came up. I went through the team match call again and was successful. One week later, I was told they had decided to go with an internal candidate again. This time, there was disappointment and defeat. At that point, I thought I’d never make it into the company I’d been dreaming of working for since I was little. Four months later, another recruiter reached out. This time, it wasn't an AI role. It was a Google Cloud DevRel role. I took the team match call. And finally, I got the offer, I took the job, and I didn’t look back. My first task was to learn about the entire Cloud architecture that had been built up over the past decade and create an educational course for internal developers. Six months later, the course was being used by every new internal developer building for Cloud. The next three years flew by. Lots of learning, projects, and building later, my time at Google had been a blast. I originally wrote the full story in 2025. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gJPgsFJZ

Junnet Ali reacted on thisJunnet Ali reacted on thisAfter 12 years in London and 7 years at Google UK, I’ve relocated to Italy. New office, but same company (Google Italy), same global role, same passion for supporting developers and builders. Living in London was an extraordinary adventure. It’s a city that teaches you to believe everything is possible because you are constantly surrounded by people doing remarkable things. I’m leaving behind a piece of my heart there, entirely because of the incredible friendships and professional partnerships I built along the way. At the same time, I couldn't be more excited for this new chapter. While the UK tech scene remains an unmatched powerhouse in Europe, the Italian ecosystem is full of incredible talents and gaining real momentum, growing more dynamic and ambitious. I will try to give my contribution and share more about it here as it definitely deserves more visibility. If you are a founder or builder based in Italy, I would love to connect!

A few highlights from a non-stop week of engineering and community: 🛠️ 81 Projects in 24 Hours (The Nerdearla Vibeathon): We gave builders a real bottleneck: build an open-source, scalable live transcription and simultaneous translation engine for multi-track conferences. In 24h, 81 teams shipped working apps using Gemini 3.5 Live Audio, Gemini Flash-Lite, and local open-weight Gemma 4 / TranslateGemma (Ollama, llama.cpp, WebGPU): • 1-to-N fan-out (SSE/WebSockets/Redis) streaming captions to 2,000+ phones for <$0.80/hr per stage. • "Make-before-break" session rotation synced to voice activity (VAD) so 45-min talks never drop a syllable. • AI agents extracting technical glossaries from speaker PDF slides, plus live voice dubbing, blind accessibility audio, and Argentine Sign Language (LSA) support. 🎤 Packed Houses & Community Power: • Full houses in the 650-seat Gran Sala for David McLaughlin, Thor Schaeff ("What's New in Audio?"), and Omar Sanseviero ("The Future of Building with AI"), plus a fun main-stage interview alongside Naveen Nigam. • 170+ builders at our evening Google DeepMind meetup at Area3. • 760+ Google Cloud & AI Studio credit activations across the hackathon and full-day workshops led by GDEs Jorge Cano, Lesly Zerna, Nicolás Bello Camilletti, Juan Irungaray and Andrés Villanueva on ADK, A2A, MCP, and Cloud Run. • At the booth: ~30 devs per lightning demo, dozens of daily 1-on-1 architecture reviews, and non-stop lines for our Lego challenge, custom stickers, and Rioplatense Gemini assistant. 🔗 Dive into the code & start building: • All 81 open-source Vibeathon projects: https://lnkd.in/g4zB3cyY • Test Gemini Live & audio in AI Studio: https://lnkd.in/g7NujexW • Agent Development Kit (ADK) docs: https://g.dev/ai/adk-docs • Google Developer Experts (GDE) program: https://lnkd.in/g6FVDQjG Huge gracias to Ariel Jolo and the Nerdearla crew, our GDEs, and the dream team who worked tirelessly for months behind the scenes: Karen Acosta Parra, Alejandra Alvarado Castaño, Marty Fortier, Melina López and our friends across Google DeepMind and Cloud Marketing. Junnet Ali reacted on thisJunnet Ali reacted on thisEvery fall I get the same message from students: "When do Google internships open?" The answer is now. 😀 Google's Summer 2027 internship postings are live for roles in engineering and AI/ML research, business, program management, design, and more. Two pieces of advice from someone who has watched a lot of these cycles: ➡️ Don't wait. Most applications are due by early October. That's about two weeks. Your résumé doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be submitted. ➡️ Apply for the work you want to do, not the title you think sounds impressive. The best interns I've met chose problems they cared about. You'll work on real projects that ship to billions of people, and you'll learn more in twelve weeks than you'd expect. 😍 Technical Program Manager Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dBqK_ssG Associate Product Manager Intern, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/d4MMwxGY Business Undergraduate Intern, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dfjSBQd5 Software Engineering Intern, BS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dcHpnDEJ Hardware Engineering Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dTNJSP5n Software Engineering BS/MS Intern, 2027 https://lnkd.in/dc3P5v8K User Experience Engineer Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dgTbuxn4 Customer and Partner Solutions Engineering Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/d8Ay6peg Security Engineering Intern, BS/MS, Summer 2027 https://lnkd.in/dNh6Zs8u LinkedIn won't let me squeeze all the roles in, so if you're a student, grab the full list here: https://lnkd.in/d-6tHx6X If you know a student, please send this to them.
