Mark Register reacted on thisMark Register reacted on thisThe past couple of months have reminded me that the connections we build at work often go far deeper than we realise. When life takes an unexpected turn, the support of friends, family and colleagues can make all the difference. Two months ago, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable cancer. She’s 64, active, full of life, and had just become “GiGi” to her first grandchild, my son Sebastian. What began as a suspected case of gallstones turned into a brutal diagnosis of a rare cancer with no cure known to date, only treatment to slow growth. What felt like the most special year of my life pivoted into deep grief and fear of what we could lose. Cancer has a way of making you realise how precious life is - the small and big moments - the morning sunlight, the sound of birds chirping, a hug from your family, seeing your child or grandchild through another birthday. In the midst of all this, I’ve been deeply moved by how many people have opened up about their own experiences with cancer and just how far reaching this disease can be. I’m incredibly grateful to my colleagues at Starburst for stepping up without hesitation - giving me flexibility and support to be with my mum when needed. And to channel some of my emotion into action, I’ll be running the Sydney Half Marathon in May, raising funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF). Their work provides grants and technology to those searching for better treatments, giving families of those impacted by cancer a little bit more hope. Hope for better treatment, hope for a cure, and hope for more time together. If you know me, you know my mum. She raised me to be the individual I am today. This chart tells you why AI-native SaaS is in a different league (and what SaaS founders can learn) 👇 I saw this chart comparing revenue multiples across the world’s top 37 unicorns. At first glance, it seems absurd: • Klarna does $8B in revenue → valued at just 5x. • Perplexity, OpenAI, Anthropic → all soaring beyond 40x–90x. • Waymo? $75M revenue → valued at 600x. And yet... it makes perfect sense once you dig deeper. 1️⃣ Revenue isn’t revenue anymore. Investors aren’t just buying numbers on a P&L. They’re buying motion. A dollar earned through AI-native GTM carries more weight than one earned through old-school outbound and AE headcount. Because it: • Scales faster • Converts with less friction • Comes with a higher margin and leverage 2️⃣ Distribution is becoming embedded. Traditional SaaS relies on motion: → Marketing drives leads → Sales pushes demos → CS fights churn AI-native products flip this. They integrate directly into where work already happens: Notion, CRMs, and terminals. The product embeds itself. Usage compounds. Expansion becomes the default. Distribution is no longer a motion. It's a system baked into the product. 3️⃣ Product-led isn’t the edge it used to be. PLG got you discovered. AI-led GTM gets you adopted. Today’s best companies aren’t just waiting for users to explore - they’re deploying AI agents that guide, recommend, and convert in real-time. It’s not just a UX shift. It’s a revenue engine. And investors are pricing it in. 4️⃣ GTM systems are replacing execution teams. In traditional SaaS, every stage of growth demands more people. In AI-native SaaS, the goal is different: Can you grow revenue without growing ops? But in AI-native SaaS, growth = smarter systems. Founders are building leaner orgs using: • AI-personalized outbound (Clay + GPT) • Matched audience ads (Meta, LinkedIn) • End-to-end RevOps infrastructure It’s not about hiring more. It’s about designing smarter systems. That’s why exits look different. $10M ARR at 30% YoY growth with a heavy team? → Maybe a 4x revenue multiple. $10M ARR but with AI-native GTM and lean ops? → Investors start seeing a 10x+ machine. I’ve had the honor of joining in its early days and contributing to something truly remarkable: scaling a multi-billion-dollar company, going global, redefining industries through innovation, acquiring bold new technologies, championing sustainability, elevating underrepresented voices through ERGs, and helping shape a historic IPO that created lasting value. We reimagined what agreements could be… not just once, but again and again. A mission that keeps evolving with the world around it. The world is shifting fast. The rise of AI over the past year is just the beginning, and what’s even more powerful is how people are applying these tools to reimagine how we work, collaborate, and solve big problems. Docusign’s focus to bring intelligence to agreements is one signal of a much bigger era that will reshape how billions of people develop and interact. There are many impressive financial stats and, more importantly, many customers made to be successful. However, what really matters is the lives we impacted at team DocuSign. The people who did the work of their lives and were so positively shaped. My heart will never stop caring about all of you who played a part in the journey.

Chris took us up in the air for an incredible bay area super tour. And Ryan made me a phenomenal cup of coffee! LOL. We were all part of a super exciting time at DocuSign a few years ago.
