Tim Sneath reposted thisTim Sneath reposted thisFor the past 6 years, my heart has been in developer advocacy: from building communities like Flutter Kenya to speaking across Europe and Africa, mentoring, and learning in public. In '23, I was even named a "Most Active Speaker" by Sessionize.com Then I stepped back because life was happening. I’m currently back to being a student, pursuing my Master's in Data Science, and shifting my focus from Flutter to #Python, #ML, #Go, and #SwiftUI. Sometimes I worry that being a student again might make it harder to land my next DevRel or developer role. But honestly, what better way to advocate for developers than being right in the learning trenches with them? I’ve missed the stage. I’ve missed this community energy. I am looking forward to chatting about #SwiftUI, #Go, #ML, #DevRel opportunities, or just connecting with like-minded people.

Tim Sneath reposted thisTim Sneath reposted thisSharing another science project I have been working on. A Dune-inspired Moon Phase Tracker iOS app using Claude within Xcode! A little over 9 months ago, I would have said not to bother, but now Apple & Anthropic have put in the work and it really shows. Also... I used this moon tracker app concept to understand how coding agents were improving over a year ago. The tech was not perfect by any means, but I would say that it gets you easily 80% there vs. 20% 9 months ago. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Deep integration between intelligent agents and Xcode's powerful developer lifecycle tooling. Now Claude and Codex can autonomously review an Xcode project's structure, add code and tests, rebuild and address errors and warnings, review visual screenshots of previews, and check in code. And it has access to the latest documentation and best practices, with optimizations for efficient tool calling and token usage. For almost 30 years (how can that be? I still feel like I’m in my 20s!), my career has revolved around user interfaces, software frameworks, and – most of all – UI frameworks and platforms. So this move is, quite simply, a dream come true. SwiftUI and the Swift language are transforming the way apps are built, and I’m thrilled to help shape that future. Tim Sneath liked thisTim Sneath liked thisStill pinching myself. 🤯 Today at #WWDC26, I got a 15-minute 1:1 feedback session with Lauren Grimm , Head of Marketing at Apple. To put this into perspective: I have been a massive fan of the Apple Marketing team since 2016. For the last decade, I’ve watched every single video they’ve released and studied every product landing page—from Apple Support to Apple Developers. Early in my career, I used to copy their work "pixel to pixel" just to try and learn from the best. To finally sit down and get feedback from person whose work has literally shaped my own professional mindset for 10 years? Unreal. I’m honestly half-convinced I’m going to wake up tomorrow and realize it was all a dream. P.S. A massive, special thank you to Andrew O'Melia for organizing this meeting. He went to bat for me to make this happen, and I am incredibly grateful! 🙏 #AppleMarketing #Apple

Tim Sneath liked thisTim Sneath liked this5 minutes on stage shaped the next 10 years of my life: Watching the Build 2026 keynote today took me back to this moment from Build 2016, when my team and I first shared Seeing AI on stage with Satya. I’m so grateful to Satya and to Microsoft for enabling me to pursue this mission: helping people who are blind to do even more, powered by AI and wearable technology. It has been incredible to see the technology advance. When we started, it took minutes to generate a very basic description of an image. Today, we are getting closer to AI that can help people complete everyday tasks in real time. But while the technology has changed dramatically, the mission has stayed constant, and there's still a long way to go. There are too many people for me to thank individually, but this journey would not have been possible without the managers, colleagues, partners, and community members who believed in the work and helped shape it. I'll share that story in another post. Tim Sneath liked thisTim Sneath liked thisTwenty plus years ago, I remember Soma would greet everyone in the halls of Building 42 the same way: "How are you doing? Are you having a good time?" It didn't matter if it was a Technical Fellow or an Intern. He didn't ask how your project was going, whether you were going to meet your deadlines, he wanted to know you were happy. He seemed to know everyone's name and, more importantly, his concern for your well-being was absolutely sincere.

Tim Sneath liked thisTim Sneath liked thisI'm deeply saddened at the news of S. Somasegar Soma Somasegar's passing. Soma ran DevDiv from around 2005-2015 and he was beloved by everyone. Soma was the exact *opposite* of Microsoft leaders at the time. He was calm, he listened, he didn't scream or terrorize people in meetings, he supported Big Bold Ideas and calculated risk. He was more than a leader, he made DevDiv feel like a family and he was a mentor for so many us. My thoughts go out to his family, and as he would always sign off on his blog, Namaste Soma #somastories
