It took some time to process... but I’m finally ready. After 8 incredible years, I’ve decided it’s time to move on to my next chapter. AppsFlyer wasn't just a workplace, it was a second home, and a true technical and leadership incubator. A place with virtually no ego. A culture that provided psychological safety to learn and fail, the autonomy to lead and take calculated risks, and above all, the space to retrospect and take ownership when things didn't go as planned. Across nearly a decade, there wasn't a single dull moment. I was constantly building, innovating, and driving impact across my domains, even on my final day, my mind was still racing with ideas for what to build next. I will always take immense pride in having played a role in shaping AppsFlyer’s tech stack and engineering culture to stay on the bleeding edge of platform and data engineering at massive scale. Above all, it’s always about the people. To everyone I’ve worked with, from executive leadership to every talented individual contributor: thank you 🙏. I walk away with genuine partnerships, deep respect, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Thank you, AppsFlyer, for an unforgettable journey.

New chapter. This week I started as VP Engineering for Control-M SaaS at BMC Software. Before looking ahead, I want to look back. Five years at ZoomInfo gave me more than I could have asked for: the chance to lead engineering and platform teams through real scale, real complexity, and a pace that kept teaching me something new every quarter. What I'll carry with me most, though, is the people. To the teams I had the privilege of leading, the peers who pushed back and made me better, and the leaders who trusted me with the hard problems: thank you. You made me a better engineer and a better leader. Now, BMC Software. Over the past few weeks I've been getting to know the Control-M organization, and I'm walking in with more energy than I expected. Some of the world's largest enterprises run their most critical workflows on this platform, and helping shape its SaaS future is exactly the kind of challenge I love. The ambition, the scale, and above all the people I've already met have only added fuel to the fire. Grateful for what was. All in on what's next. Onward. #NewRole #BMC #ControlM #ZoomInfo #EngineeringLeadership

Everyone wants agents that run on their own. Almost no one runs them in production. On customer calls it's the same three reasons every time: 1. They're a pain to stand up. 2. The cost runs away the second no one is watching. 3. You have no real control over what the agent can touch. That third one is the scary part. An autonomous agent usually runs as you, with your access. Tomorrow morning it decides to email your whole customer list something dumb, and nothing stops it. So we built Governed Background Agents on Willow An agent that runs on a trigger, not when you ask. As its own identity. Scoped to the exact tools it needs, nothing more. Every action logged. It runs on the harness you already use. Claude Managed Agents, AWS Agent Core, or your own. Connect the platform once, give the agent exactly the tools for the job, and it runs. Governed from the first run. If you're trying to put agents to work without handing them the keys to everything, I'd love to show you how it works. Just wrapped Tefillin with Alex Bouaziz He’s the founder and CEO of Deel, one of the world’s largest global payroll and HR platforms, valued at approximately $17.3 billion. Deel is a fully remote company, yet Alex chooses to live in Israel because, as he told me, it’s his favorite place in the world. That’s why I call him the CEO of Israel’s biggest tech startup. It was a privilege getting to know him and hear his story. Alex grew up attending Chabad schools in France, studying Torah for about five hours a day. Those values have stayed with him, today he keeps Shabbat, keeps kosher, and lives as a proudly Orthodox Jew. It’s remarkable to lead a company with over 7,000 employees while completely disconnecting from technology for 25 hours every week. Alex is one of the humblest founders I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. What he’s built by his early 30s is truly extraordinary.

האם שנייה אחרי שהתמונה הזאת צולמה קפץ לסגן הנשיא מסך של 'Windows is updating, do not turn off your computer', והצדדים נאלצו לדחות את החתימה על ההסכם ב-4 שעות?

By far the highlight of this week’s PyData Tel Aviv was a highly practical session on 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 by Linoy Cohen and Shirli Di-Castro Shashua, Ph.D. from Intuit. Here are the key takeaways I gathered: 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞: 1️⃣ 𝐖𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞-𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Judge the final output of the full flow of the agent, similar to system tests in software. 2️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: For complex agents, similar to software unit tests, evaluate subcomponents directly to spot issues faster and easier. 3️⃣ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: A “white-box” look at internal steps of the agent: whether the correct tools were called, the number of calls, and the order of operations, etc.. A helpful library for all three approaches: 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐬. 𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐋𝐌𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬: 🔵 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 (preference for first answers in comparison between two options, preference for longer text, preference for model's own output, authoritative tone, etc.). Mitigate or account for them. 🔵 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐰-𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 in judge prompts to reduce bias. 🔵 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 to avoid justification of the number instead of real explanation. 🔵 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 for stronger reliability. 🔵 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤. Avoid combining multiple evaluation questions in one prompt. 🔵 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (good/bad). If numeric scoring is required, define exactly what each number means. And the most important tip shared: 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐨 𝐬𝐤𝐢.

Building US Go-To-Market teams as an internationally based startup. I had the pleasure of meeting with CEOs from a group of emerging Israeli AI companies yesterday. My advice included: Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast Bottom up structure and standard operating procedures reduce mistakes. Slow is Smooth - Smooth is Fast – SMOOTH SCALES Startups ARE HARD Raising Money is HARD. Being a startup with a founding team based in Israel with an intention of scaling in the US is HARD. Don't take shortcuts. Don't chase shiny objects. Take a breath. Map it out. The best US candidates for early stage companies tend to share certain characteristics. They want to fall in love with what you are doing and ideally who you are. They want to be inspired. Real human emotions underlie all our decisions. They very often will think and act like investors. This is especially true when a meaningful component of their compensation package may be in equity. They will want clear, believable and compelling answers/information on: Ongoing entity status… Cap table. Current funding. Cash burn + run rate. Prospects for the next raise. Which firms have invested? Which ones are either on the board and/or are playing an active advisory role in your US based success? Why do you exist? It's key to speak convincingly with one voice. Is the company a sprinter (think Noah Lyles) or a marathoner (Eliud Kipchoge)? Has the founding team done this, or something relevant to this, before? Any way in which you can de-risk the story for the candidate will go a long way. Core tactical/logistical items - to consider BEFORE beginning US build out How will you handle the full breadth of the Human Resources function? How are you going to pay employees? You need to establish a US entity and all that goes along with it. Compensation needs to be set at competitive US levels which likely will be meaningfully higher than Israeli equivalents. How are you planning to provide benefits packages - health insurance, etc? Think about retention right from the beginning - Establish a real onboarding process as a starting point for what should be an ongoing effort across the full employment lifecycle. Where should you start with the hiring process? Bottom up? Top down? Something else? My strong preference is top down. Something to consider in advance of the US team build stage. Are you, as a founding CEO, willing to relocate to the US for the first few years? If yes, do it! Assuming you are not going to relocate to the US, hire a US Commercial Leader who will be the next best thing. Screen for resilience and adaptability. Be more focused on tactical and strategic fit rather than a simple reliance on pedigree. Once you have brought on your commercial lead, empower them. Working with a search partner Let’s talk! giles.vanpraagh@avantsearch.com
