Niall Wall reposted thisNiall Wall reposted thisYesterday, we announced Intuit is bringing its trusted financial intelligence for small businesses to Meta's Muse as a launch partner. The Intuit QuickBooks connector is now live in Muse, bringing key financial workflows directly into Muse. It’s an important step in a strategy we’ve been pursuing for some time: meeting customers wherever they choose to live and work, and making Intuit’s financial intelligence and automation capabilities available through the platforms they increasingly use every day. But this is about more than one partnership. Heres what AI agents mean for Intuit. Agents like Muse are creating new front doors for customers. Just as search engines, mobile devices and app marketplaces changed how people discovered and accessed products, conversational AI is creating another way for consumers and businesses to find what they need and get started. The front door is just the beginning of the customer experience. When a customer connects to QuickBooks through Muse, or engages with Intuit through ChatGPT, Claude or another AI platform, the financial intelligence and actions are powered by Intuit’s platform. With the customer’s permission, we bring together our infrastructure, persistent permissioned data, AI, and decades of financial and industry expertise to execute high-stakes work accurately, securely and compliantly. This depth of expertise matters. Financial decisions are not generic. They require deep context, specialized expertise and infrastructure built to take real action. At Intuit, we serve 10 million businesses across 74 financial domains, more than 100 workflows and hundreds of specialized industries. That scale and depth allow us to move beyond answering a question to providing the expertise, automation and action behind the experience. This means our platform is doing the work to help customers manage cash flow, get paid, access capital, run payroll or make a financial decision with confidence. The interface will continue to evolve. The places customers start will change. Our role remains clear: use trusted data, AI and human expertise to do more of the work for customers, put more money in their pockets, save them time, and give them confidence in every financial decision they make. https://lnkd.in/geC2mSZr

Niall Wall reposted thisNiall Wall reposted thisToday, Intuit QuickBooks was announced as a launch partner for Meta's Muse for Small Business. A business owner can now ask Muse about their cash flow or send an invoice, and QuickBooks does the work behind the scenes. Conversational AI is a great way to discover the right tool for the job. But the models winning right now are the ones that know when to call in a trusted expert. Under the hood, this runs on what we've spent years building: decades of trusted financial data, expertise spanning 74 financial domains and 307 industries, and an orchestration layer that knows when the moment calls for a language model, a predictive model, or compliance-grade deterministic logic. That's not something you stand up overnight. It's why QuickBooks now shows up inside Muse and other leading AI platforms—same foundation, wherever people are already working. Niall Wall reposted thisToday, I'm excited to share our investment in Forage's $40M Series B 🎉 There's a strange dissonance in working in VC and startupland right now. The AI wave has created extraordinary wealth for a lot of people in our world. Valuations are soaring. Deals are closing fast. SF real estate is insane. And yet, outside of the bubble, life is getting harder. Grocery prices are up. Gas is expensive. 40 million Americans rely on SNAP benefits just to put food on the table. The financial stress most people are living with doesn't make it into many pitch decks. Finding Forage felt like a breath of fresh air. Nearly 1 in 8 Americans rely on SNAP to make ends meet. SNAP/EBT is a closed loop payments ecosystem - meaning funds can only be spent on eligible goods through authorized channels - creating regulatory and product moats that are extraordinarily hard to replicate. And yet the category has been chronically underserved by legacy processors. Merchants don't have a reliable way to participate and consumers can't access funds within platforms where they actually shop. Forage changes that. And that's not all. Forage recently launched a consumer app helping low-income families check balances, discover deals, and find SNAP-eligible retailers nearby. They've also expanded into broader restricted spend categories like HSA/FSA payments. Forage sits at rare intersection of venture-scalable growth potential and a mission that actually matters to everyday Americans. And I couldn't think of a better leader for this business than Ofek. Ofek lived the pain of working with legacy processors as the former Head of Payments at Instacart where he launched and scaled their SNAP/EBT acceptance program. Like me, anyone who has met him immediately senses his passion, subject matter expertise, and leadership. Proud to be backing Forage at this pivotal time in their journey. Huge congrats to Ofek and Team Forage on this milestone! Niall Wall liked thisNiall Wall liked this75% of every restaurant in Copenhagen now has a Vota rating. A year ago we had zero. That is a cold-start problem with no way out: a rating app with no ratings is useless. Every one of those ratings came from someone who ate there. Nothing scraped, nothing aggregated. Stockholm and Oslo are right behind.

Niall Wall liked thisNiall Wall liked this"Is AI going to take entry-level jobs?" I get asked this question a lot. I try to reframe it as "How are we preparing people for the future of work?" At Cisco Marketing, we’re announcing an extension for our full-time recent college graduates program (Amplify) to 2 years because we believe experience, judgment, and adaptability matter more than ever in an AI-powered world. AI can help us move faster and take care of repetitive work. But the things that make great teams, like curiosity, creativity, and good judgment, will matter more than ever. If you’re graduating between now and August 2027, keep an eye out. Amplify applications open in October on our Cisco website and we hope you'll join us.

1wNiall Wall liked thisCongratulations to Rob Reich, HAI associate director and senior fellow, on being named to the expert group advising Gov. Gavin Newsom on California's AI executive order. The group will develop recommendations on some of the hardest open questions in AI governance, from embedding independent verification organizations inside frontier labs, to verifying the safety frameworks companies file with the state and advancing the creation of a "kill switch" for frontier models. Rob joins Jason Goldman (Center for Shared AI Prosperity), Gillian K. Hadfield (Johns Hopkins, Vector Institute), and Alondra Nelson (Institute for Advanced Study). This role builds on Rob’s previous work as a senior advisor to the U.S. AI Safety Institute: accelerating the scientific practice of AI testing and evaluation so that oversight rests on evidence rather than metaphor. In his words, "Innovation and safety go hand in hand in any responsible marketplace, and AI is no different." Congratulations, Rob! Well deserved. https://lnkd.in/gbWZm8_k -
Niall Wall liked thisNiall Wall liked thisI once cold called the head of sales and marketing at Symantec. He was WAY above anyone who would ever buy my newly created sales training program. I didn't know him, and I desperately wanted into the account. So naturally, I called his office. To talk to his assistant. (Yes, the very person you are trying to avoid.) Because I wasn't trying to book a meeting. Which is exactly where most sales reps screw up a cold call. Your job in the first 30 seconds isn't to sell anything. Your job is to EARN another 30 seconds. Think about what happens when a buyer answers a number they don't recognize. They didn't pick up because they're excited to hear your pitch. They picked up because they thought you were Laura in Marketing. “Hi Bob, this is Jeff from Hoffman. How are you today?” And while you're launching into your value proposition, Bob's brain is screaming: WHO THE HELL IS THIS? IT SURE AIN'T LAURA! And you're already dead. Which is why I've started cold calls the same way for decades: “You don't know me.” It's true. It's disarming. And it immediately stops the buyer from doing the mental gymnastics of trying to figure out who I am. And then I make the call about THEM. In the Symantec case, I'd found a presentation the executive had given called “Aligning Sales and Marketing in a Global World.” The download link was broken, so when his assistant answered I told her I didn't know him, explained how I'd found the presentation, briefly told her who I was, and asked: “What’s the easiest way for me to get a copy of that PowerPoint?” Notice what I DIDN'T ask for. A meeting. A demo. 15 minutes on his calendar. I asked for a PowerPoint. She sent it to me. And I read it. And when I called her back with a question about one of the slides, and she put me through to him. One conversation later, the head of sales and marketing at Symantec referred me directly to the person I needed to meet. Stop trying to accelerate on call #1. You don't need acceleration yet. You need ENGAGEMENT. Say something about them. Say something about you. Then ask for something easy to get. 30 seconds is all we get. We all have to earn the next 30. Happy Selling®, Jeff

Niall Wall liked thisNiall Wall liked thisLast week, Patrick Collison joined EU finance ministers and central bank governors at ECOFIN in Dublin to discuss how Europe can help its most ambitious businesses start, scale, and remain here. Many of the solutions are within Europe’s control: deeper capital markets that channel European savings into European growth; less bureaucracy and simpler access to the Single Market; and rules that give Europe’s ambitious companies the flexibility to invest and hire. Financial innovation must be central to this agenda. As AI transforms commerce, people and software will increasingly transact globally and in real time. Properly regulated stablecoins can provide the programmable, interoperable infrastructure the AI economy requires. Europe should not be left behind and must ensure that it sets the standards for the next generation of financial infrastructure. Europe should shape this emerging ecosystem itself, instead of watching it develop elsewhere. It has the talent, capital, ideas, and market scale to lead. Now it must make it possible for European founders to build in Europe, raise in Europe, and serve the world from Europe.

Niall Wall liked thisNiall Wall liked thisA month ago I walked into surgery not knowing what I would wake up to. Two days earlier I had dropped my daughter off at Duke for her freshman year. We said goodbye at the stadium door on a Saturday evening. By Monday morning I was on the table, having ten percent of my large intestine along with a major mass inside of it. The mysterious mass had shown up on a routine colonoscopy, so large the doctor could not see around it. My surgeon gave it to me straight: the surgery would be difficult but doable, and there was a sixty percent chance it was cancer. I sat with that number for two weeks. You cannot do anything useful with odds like that except prepare for both outcomes and keep moving forward. The surgery went well. Days later, still groggy at home, I got the call. It was not cancer. I was so sure it was that I didn’t even know how to process the diagnosis. What none of us knew yet was that I was bleeding internally with no obvious sign. By the time my husband got me to the ER a few days later, I passed out in the lobby. I needed a second procedure to clip off the bleeding. Turns out I had a one-in-a-hundred complication. When I could talk to my surgeon again, he joked he must have used up all my luck on the cancer result and had the complication instead. Looking at the mass, he said it was almost always cancer. It is a good way to use up luck I guess. The mass turned out to be endometriosis likely caused by the medication that was preventing last year’s breast cancer from returning. Hormone positive meant the hormones that had kept the endometriosis in check for years were suddenly the enemy, so I switched to a drug that guards against a recurrence instead. That same drug can cause endometriosis to grow somewhere it should not. Sometimes when you fix one thing, you can have ripple effects you don’t anticipate. I used to think of health as a series of problems you solve and close out. This year taught me it is a string of trade-offs, made with imperfect information. You can only keep drawing one card at a time. Three things I am carrying forward: * Vigilance is exhausting, but it is what lets you catch problems before they become emergencies. * Treatments can have a hidden cost. Knowing it means you can stay on top of it. * The minutes you feel well matter more once you know they are not guaranteed. I am getting stronger every day, but I don’t want to forget what it was to lose all that I took for granted. Listen to your body and guard your health.
