Sarah Kennedy Ellis shared thisWelcome to Day 1 of #GoogleCloudNext ‘26! 👋 We kicked things off today with our main keynote, which was jam-packed with news. ➡️ Thomas Kurian spoke about how Gemini Enterprise is now the end-to-end system for the Agentic Era, where our blueprint is Intelligence + Automation = Value. ➡️ Sundar Pichai announced the new Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform: The evolution of Vertex AI and the new standard to build, scale, govern, and optimize the next wave of agents. ➡️ Amin Vahdat announced next-generation innovations for our AI Hypercomputer. This includes our new 8th generation TPUs and the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 — all supported by massive upgrades to our storage and networking infrastructure. ➡️ “Reasoning without context is just a guess.” To solve this, Karthik Narain introduced the Agentic Data Cloud. It features the new Knowledge Catalog, Data Agent Kit, Lightning Engine for Apache Spark, and a borderless Cross-Cloud Lakehouse, providing the trusted context organizations need to fuel AI agents and take decisive action. ➡️ Francis deSouza explained that to stop AI-driven attacks, defenders must move at machine speed. To do this, our Agentic Defense combines Google’s Threat Intelligence and Agentic SOC with Wiz’s AI Application Protection Platform (AI-APP) to prevent, detect, and respond to threats. ➡️ Carrie Tharp and Yulie Kwon Kim shared how our Agentic Taskforce is transforming both customer and employee experiences. Carrie introduced our new Omnichannel Gateway to help service agents maintain context across every surface, while Yulie unveiled Workspace Intelligence to eliminate context fragmentation and heavy lifting across the Workspace suite. ➕ So many examples of how customers are transforming their businesses with Gemini Enterprise, supported by our rapidly expanding partner ecosystem. 🏂 AND, a fantastic appearance from 3x Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who shared how we worked with Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics to use AI analyze their performance and discuss how AI is helping change the game for athletes, coaches and fans. Sarah Kennedy Ellis shared thisExcited to see the launch of Google’s 17th annual U.S. Economic Impact Report, which shows how American businesses are using our products and programs to grow and succeed. In my home state of #Colorado 🌲🏔️ last year, nearly 400,000 businesses used Google tools at no cost to receive phone calls, bookings, reviews, requests for directions and other direct connections to their customers. This helped provide over $16 billion of economic activity. Numbers are great, but the stories are better - for example, check out what the team at Friction Labs was able to achieve - not only helping athletes reach new heights, but also introducing hundreds of underserved kids to climbing at gyms all over America! As I scroll through my LinkedIn feed these days, I can't unsee it - the evidence of AI is everywhere. It's exciting, on one hand. And it's so powerful to witness at scale the ability now for everything to simply be "better" right out of the gate. Yet, I find myself distracted from what is arguably better content all over the place. Instead of consuming it with enjoyment, I end up hungry & hunting for evidence of the human inside of every post... are you in there? I'm using AI in so much of my day to day work and it has supercharged nearly everything. But for my more personal content, the 18 year old journalism major in me has decided - at least for now - to save the written word I fell in love with so many years ago, just for me... and that includes this post. My joy is found in the process itself. Now, that may mean you have to suffer through rogue ellipses here and there instead of an em-dash, but those are also the tiny idiosyncrasies that make us human. How are you handling that creative vs productive tension? What is the work that gives you joy... or is core to your personal identity that you have intentionally chosen not to use AI for just yet? ~100% Sarah 👋

Sarah Kennedy Ellis reacted on thisSarah Kennedy Ellis reacted on thisI have some big news to share. Today I'm excited to announce that I'm becoming Meta's first Chief Data Officer. Over the last few years I've had the privilege of leading both Marketing and Analytics. As AI has accelerated, I've become increasingly convinced that data, research and experimentation are going to continue be some of the most important strategic capabilities for every company but they need to be transformed. AI is creating effectively unlimited demand for insights, while the traditional ways we generate those insights are reaching their limits. My focus in this new role will be helping transform how Meta learns and makes decisions in the AI era. That starts with building better data foundations, but extends all the way through AI-powered analytics, experimentation, research and decision-making. We've already made exciting progress—from Analytics Agent, now the most widely used AI agent inside Meta, to foundational work modernizing our analytics infrastructure—but I believe we're only at the beginning of what's possible. I'm incredibly excited (and, if I'm honest, a little nervous—which I think is healthy) to focus fully on this mission. The impact of AI will only be as good as the data, experimentation and scientific rigor behind using it, and I believe helping build that foundation is one of the most important opportunities in front of us. As such I also get to celebrate some of the best news of my career here too which is Denise Moreno becoming our Chief Marketing Officer. Denise is my colleague and friend of 17years. She stood in for me when I spent two months at trial in DC last year and proved as interim CMO that she would be an amazing CMO full stop. I have so many plaudits to raise for her, she has been my quiet right hand on growth driving our promotions of products from Glasses to threads and transforming our ecommerce capabilities as a company. It means a lot to me my closest partner in this marketing journey is taking on the CMO role as I step into my new role. I couldn’t have succeeded without her steady hand and support. This is by far the most energetic Cannes I have ever attended - and probably the Google Beach I am most proud of. There is so much going on but a highlight from yesterday was seeing creativity in action at our super popular Demos booths - the YouTube Drive In, the Retail Lab and the Search Sandbox - and at the Google Creative House, where AI researchers, filmmakers, and creatives used Omni, Veo, and Google Flow to co-create a four-minute short film in just two hours. It was a clear reminder of AI's role: handling the heavy lifting so we can focus on pushing the boundaries of the work and unlocking new horizons of creativity. Because no matter how advanced generative models get, they do absolutely nothing on their own. It is human imagination that gives them purpose. Today, I am really looking forward to Demis Hassabis in conversation with Reed Albergotti on AI, creativity, and the path to AGI at 4pm at our beach. They will be unpacking how AI is opening up completely new storytelling possibilities for filmmakers and musicians, and where world models are heading next. See you at the #GoogleBeach!

Week 2 on the job was full of all the things that make camp special - meeting new friends, stuffing my brain with knowledge, and having new experiences that built skills and opened my eyes in a way no average week could. I’m so grateful for The Trade Desk’s marketing and GTM teams for stepping up our presence in a big way, to all of the brands, agencies, and partners I had the pleasure to meet behind closed doors and at our OpenHouse, and to Jeff Green, Vivek Kundra and team for welcoming me so enthusiastically into TTD’s world. And of course, to the cute boy in the cabin a few doors down, it was so fun to be on this adventure with you, Ryan Gavin. For the record, I told you you’d like those shoes. How do you use AI in a truly human way? For Episode 7 of Changing Shapes, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tim Weinheimer, Chief Marketing Officer at Hahn. Two examples from our conversation really stood out for me. First, their AI hackathon-style workshops, where Hahn’s creative and data teams work together with clients to produce a first draft of a campaign, all in a day. The results are then judged by humans on whether they have emotional impact. I love how this approach combines the strengths of AI (speed) with the strengths of people (connection). The second was a project where they used generative AI to analyse 15 years of survey data for a client, uncovering the real impact of their messaging over time. The insights showed not just brand perception shifts, but even cultural awareness changes. It’s not as flashy as vibe-coding an app in five minutes, but it’s the kind of meaningful progress that often gets overlooked.
